Stand and Listen

8 2 2

I watched you run to hide
as the seekers sought you
and from the bushes I tried
to get a spot to watch you

Yet you climbed up too high
There on that snack shack roof
I realized the reason why
You thought they wouldn't find you

A voice spoke somewhere inside me
Hindsight is better than foresight
and I could not exactly see
until I realized something wasn't right

They found you and began to climb
In panic you jumped down
I watched in a surreal time
with nothing I could do now

Young man you could've helped her
Could have stopped all these games
But would it change the way things were
or would it still end up the same?

For wisdom isn't easily
taken like advise
It must grow slowly
and somewhere deep inside

It comes from the seeds
like regret, pain and tragedy
planted in a humble soul
and grows as you let it be

Will you stand and listen to the wind
and to everything it has ever said
Will the wisdom you gained begin
So you can avoid a broken leg?
