Seasons

I placed my bet on your abstract heart
and laid my soul on the line
I gave it all including the best parts
to the promise I made for all of time

And yet your vow was somehow skewed
and set on the edge by conditions unknown
For there were things in your view
Small print I had never been shown

Tell me how I wronged you
by my need to change my life
Explain the fact that you alone
are the only person feeling strife

Life is renewal and growth
and seasons inevitably turn
These things affect us both
and how we cope is how we learn

Yet you stand so distant
and I am silent too
and right here at this instant
I don't know what to do
