Bestow the earthly gifts
in lieu of those divine
yet remember these themselves
are not so fine
For the better wine
is a sacrifice of time
The better golden band
is a commitment entwined
Each and every pearl
denotes wisdom in its place
and every onyx is the mystery
of the depth of love and grace
When you behold these trinkets
rather focus on what they mean
and do not ever forget
they are temporary things
