This is the human zoo
This is the cage of our soul
and the bars we all see through
as life exacts its toll
Watch me in my habitat
searching all I know
Never sure of where I'm at
nor having anywhere to go
This is our stockade
to keep us and keep us safe
Once it was where we played
and will one day be our grave
I saw you ponder our predicament
under stars so far apart
wondering where these stars went
and why we have a human heart
This is my trite answer
To learn all that we can
And not just be a bystander
when we could come to understand
There is a place beyond
the senseless senses search
Where peace greets the dawn
in between Heaven and earth
