Wooden weary soldier toy
Painted eyes and bayonet
Stiff to draw and employ
weapons in regretDreams in violet shards
cut the hopeful stars
Cut to ribbons that we once wore
and so those vestments are no moreRag dolls in stone washed scars
returning to boxes unwrapped
waiting for new hands unmarred
and new dream worlds untappedA tree is just a tree
A gift is better unknown
A heart plays young that stays free
yet we forget the dream once grown
