Midnight Moonlight

I lean into
the wind
and read
the story stars
and there
in silent breezes
I learn about
your heart

I let the waves
rush up
and over
wounded feet
as I open these
weary ears
to hear the rhythm
as it repeats

It echoes softly
along the sand
A song of who
we are to be
and I listen to
the familiar verse
as midnight moonlight
washes over me
