Brandon put his arms around Hinata's waist. Hinata blushed deeply. Brandon had taken Hinata to his house, where they could talk for a bit.

"Brandon-kun..." Hinata said.

"What did you just call me?" Brandon said, in a serious tone.

Hinata giggled. "Oh sorry...you don't know. Kun at the end of someone's name means boyfriend."

Brandon sighed. "Oh." He said, embarrassed.

Hinata giggled. Brandon held Hinata with a gentle grip. She rested her head against Brandon's chest.

"Brandon-kun...did you have many friends back where you came from?" Hinata asked.

Brandon said nothing. He thought for a minute. There was Dan, although he was more of an acquaintance. Brandon suddenly remembered that one girl.

"I had one real friend...but she moved away when I was 13." Brandon said. He remembered everything about her...

Brandon carries his backpack on the bus. He looked around. There was a lot of free seats. He sat in one of them.

He rummaged through his backpack. His first day of grade four would be great, he hoped. And maybe someone could trade lunches with him.

Halfway through the bus ride, a girl sat in front of Brandon. She had brown hair which shone in the sunlight. She was wearing a purple shirt, and pink jeans.

Brandon said nothing. He just lay back in his seat and twiddled with his thumbs.

"You know, you could at least say hi." The girl said, turning around and looking at Brandon.

Brandon said nothing again.

"Can you sit with me?" The girl said. She was smiling.

Brandon moved into her seat.

"Don't you say anything? Or are you quiet all the time?" The girl asked.

Brandon shrugged. "I say some stuff. Nobody really talks to me." He said.

"I'm talking to you now." The girl said. She held out her hand. "I'm Sandra."

Brandon stared at her hand. He shook Sandra's hand. "I'm Brandon. I like writing. One day I wanna be a really famous writer!"

Sandra nodded. "I like drawing." She said.

Brandon smiled. "I draw a bit. I don't a lot though."

Sandra smiled again. "That sounds cool. You're a cool friend."

Brandon broke his plain face and smiled.

Brandon pedaled down the road. The warm summer sun was nice on his skin.

Brandon arrived at Sandra's house, but there was a big white van in front of their house. Sandra was by the van, holding a box. Brandon ran over to her, his pedal bike falling on the ground.

"Sandra, where are you going?" Brandon asked.

"I'm moving..." Sandra said. "I'm going to Toronto."

Brandon looked at her in disbelief. "But you just started junior high! You can't leave!" Brandon said.

Sandra put her box down. "I'm really sorry, Brandon. I don't wanna leave either."

Brandon hugged her. "I'm really going to miss you. Who am I going to talk to?"
