Chapter 40: Being US....

Manik stood up startling a crying Nandini who had laid all her strength on Manik only to be ladled into two strong arms. "Manik kya kar rahe ho? Put me down!"she sniffed uttering those words only to be shut with a peck on her lips. She pouted still crying while he walked inside their room shrugging off. He made her sit on the bed and hopped on after getting rid of his shoes and her wedges. “What??” he asked looking at her confused face.

“What what?? All of a sudden you brought me here. So don't you think I should be the one asking you 'what'??” she questioned back. “You're crying buckets here but still you'll talk tons. Nahi?” he was really amused at the girl who could speak tons at any point of time. Despite crying so much Nandini Malhotra would argue with Manik Malhotra, maybe that was the way it had to be.

“Anyways, right now you need a closure love and that's me for you so I would want my lady to let me pamper her initiating by laying your head on my lap which is right now heavy due to your personal heavy downpour.” being cheesy was not-so-Malhotra but Nandini had earned all the abilities the turn the tables in his life so this was the outcome. She giggled lightly at his cheesy lines and shifted down to amply lie her head on his lap. He smiled seeing her giggling a bit and helped her to be comfortable.

As soon as she got settled facing him he gently started fondling her hairs. “Manik??”
“Hmm??”
“Am I that bad ki nobody finds me trustworthy?? Aaj for the first time I felt like she is your mom and not ours! I never wanted this to happen you know. Maine mom dad pe itna trust kar liya tha after appa amma's death ki for a while I had forgotten about appa amma but today I miss them like hell Manik. Upar se I dont even know why on earth would bhabhi do any such thing without telling me. I know she's a nutritionist and she can take such decisions but she was not aware of its side-effects in her case. Already I was accused of so much what if she had lost the kid Manik? She could have asked me for once.” she found herself strong enough to let go of it as words and that's what Manik wanted.

“Nandini look it's not your fault, let bhabhi recover then we'll ask her about this. And who told you that you are not trustworthy?? Don't you know how much I trust you??” she nodded in a yes “Then?? Never say that Okay? Whatever is mine or yours is ours, wasn't that our rule? It is naa so give yourself time! Time to convince yourself to forgive mom and handle this in your way!”

“Do you even know how much I love you??” Nandini asked him to which he pretended like he didn't. “The day you'll find darkness in light, that day will be the end of my growing love.” such a pure confession. Everytime it sounded like first and like no man of this era slight pink hue manages to sneek into his cheeks. “Aww Manik you're blushing!!” she pulled his cheeks and he withdrew by turning away out of embarrassment. “No.... I don't blush!” he stated and she laughed out loud vexing him.

Tring. Tring. Tring.
Her phone's ringtone disturbed their talks. “Manik phone do na!” she asked him being lazy to get up and reach up to his side to have the phone. “Here!!” she was brought back to the scenario as Dev's name on her mobile showed up. “Hello!?” she got up sitting straight as she recieved the call, confusing Manik by her actions. “Nandini, umm Sonakshi gained her senses a whole ago, I called the doctor but seeing some other doctor she got hyper! Can you please come here??” he requested her.

“Bhai! But mom ko achcha nahi lagega if I take up bhabhi's case! Phir mai kaise??” Manik passed a glare to her making her avert her gaze uncomfortably. “Please Nandini! I'll talk to Mami! Tum yaha aa jao naa. Sonakshi ko nurse ne abhi injection lagaya hai so she slept but tum aa jao na? Aise hi bhai bolti ho ya manti bhi ho??”
“Yeh kaisa question hai bhai?? Ofcourse Manti bhi hu aapko apna bhai!”she cleared her side.
“toh apne bade bhai ke bachche ka care nahi karegi tu?? Please mere liye aa jaana??”
“Okay bhai mai aati hu! You take care! I'm coming in a while.” she hung up finally turning to grimace a frowning Manik! “Bhai wants me to come there. Bhabhi zid kar rahi hai ki only I will treat her.” he was a bit unsure of Nandini going there but then the thought was short-lived as he knew nothing was bigger that her dedication for her profession and hence she'll go at any cost, moreover Muskaan being her own hospital she could not escape her responsibilities.

“Achcha you get changed I'll get you something light to eat. You have already skipped on your breakfast and lunch so you need to grab a bite for yourself!” he completed in a single breath and was about to exit the room but her call stopped him again. “Manik? ..... Get something packed for Bhai, he also has skipped on his meals! And khud ke liye bhi bring something!” his lips curved into a resplendent smile feeling her concern of him and his family. He nodded in affirmation and ran to the kitchen to get done with his work.

He walked in with two plates each having a chappati rolled in with potato stuffing inside similar to a Frankie, to spot Nandini already changed into a black solid woven round neck, long sleeves top and a skinny white jeans, trying to fasten the straps of her black cone heels. “Here have this roll and then I'll drive you to Muskaan.” he grabbed her wrists making her flump on the newly placed couch in the room handling the roll to her.

They both quickly munched on their rolls and rushed to the parking and then hopped on his bike to the hospital.
