Mac Miller was living happily in a mansion and recording facility living a dream of musicianly excess. He had 4 million cassettes and 3.5 million minidiscs to record onto.
Asked whether he preferred analog cassettes or digital minidiscs, he responded: I'd intended to tiptoe into the nagging question of whether the two formats could be used together. I intended to tiptoe for 5 hours, record a song about doing that onto a cassette, and then tiptoe 6 hours, and record another song about doing that onto a minidisc.
Unfortunately, while doing that, there was a knock on the door, and a gopher was selling brownies. I didn't realize until later that the brownies had been spiked with sleeping pills, and while asleep, the gopher had gone off with all my cassettes and minidiscs.
