Art Garfunkel can't resist making a bitter jibe at Paul Simon between songs about milking cows.
As boys, they had stayed one summer at Grandmother Garfunkel's farm, and it was Art's and Paul's job to milk the cows. None of the cows liked Paul, and would kick him if he came close, so Art actually did all the milking, while Paul slept on a nearby pile of hay.
Paul also was always in a bad mood, whenever he awakened on the hay, if there was someone seeing him sleeping, because he knew that they knew the truth about how unpopular he was with the cows, and he was embarrassed.
Unfortunately, the milking barn was in plain sight of everyone who walked past the farm, so during milking time, it was very quiet, with everyone tiptoeing past because they're afraid to wake him.
Out of embarrassment, Paul had once lied in an interview, claiming it was Art that the cows didn't like, which caused Art to lose the chance to perform at the National Dairy Council Convention. In retaliation, Art wrote several songs about the joys of milking cows, and told the truth in bitter jibes, whenever he performed them in concert.
