what the fuck?! did i hear what she said correctly?! did she just say 'girlfriend'? maybe she meant it as in 'girl friend'... but why would she say 'girl friend' then? wouldn't she just say 'friend', i mean it's obvious i'm a girl and it's not that important in this situation anyways.

all this questions were swarming in my head, but before i could even object to what she said or even ask her what was happening, her parents had spoken up. "ah, jisoo, it's so nice to finally meet you. our jennie has been talking about having this wonderful girlfriend for the last month and now we finally get to put a face on the name of the amazing girl."

i let out a forced chuckle and smiled back at them. "thank you" was all i could say at that moment.

"right, well we have to go talk with a few of our guests, but we're glad you came and we hope you enjoy the dinner." they said before leaving jennie and i alone in the crowded living area.

as soon as they were out of view, i heard jennie breathing out and i pulled myself away from her. "what the hell was that?!"

"look, i can explain. just listen to me." she said in a dominant tone.

"and why should i? you just lied to your parents, what tells me you don't lie to me?"

"you'll understand when i tell you," and then she pulled me to the giant, empty backyard. she motioned to the beige cushioned porch swing for me to sit next to her.

"explain yourself."

"alright, alright. where should i begin?" she took a moment to think out what she wanted to say before speaking up. "so, my parents are pretty wealthy, as you can probably tell. they own this tech business and are very sensitive about their image. meaning, my 'reckless image' is ruining the 'picture perfect family' image they're desperately trying to build. a few months ago, they gave me an ultimatum. i had to 'mature' and become 'normal and civilized' or at least try to or they would take away everything i have. that meant i would say goodbye to my precious bike, car, credit card, etc."

"i know i sound spoiled and i am aware of my privileges, but that was how i was raised and i am accustomed to this life... anyways, i gave in and told them i had a girlfriend so they would stop nagging me. i lied, but they stopped annoying for a while, until they started to ask questions about who she was. i had no one and couldn't think of anyone. i don't make friends easily... or at least i don't care about a lot of people. then, this morning i saw you in the corridor. you looked distressed and i figured out this whole situation after you brought up your problem."

"so you thought of all this, this morning? you just winged it?" she nodded in response. "what would you have done if i would've refused your offer."

"please, i knew you weren't going to."

i scoffed and frowned. "what do you mean?"

"i know you have a thing for hot girls and well, what can i say, i'm pretty much the jackpot at our school. plus, do you really think i've never noticed you staring at me in class and looking away when i meet your eyes."

my jaw dropped at her comment. not only was she cocky, but she knew about me staring? i thought i was being subtle... i looked down in embarrassment, but felt slim finger reach my chin and bring my head up. "hey, i was just joking around about the first part... and honestly, you are very cute when i catch you looking at me."

a/n: i think i'll start updating two chapters at a time (two chapters/week). does that sound good?
