as promised, jennie took things slow. she didn't pressure me into anything. she made me comfortable around her.

we were walking in a small park in my neighbourhood while eating ice cream when i heard a loud engine roar. jennie grabbed my free hand when she saw me jump.

"jisoo, are you doing something tonight?"

"you're not inviting me to another one of your parents' dinners and introducing me as your girlfriend again, are you?" i asked and narrowed my eyes at her.

she laughed and shook her head. "no, don't worry. when i introduce you as my girlfriend to other people, it won't be at my parents' dinners. i actually wanted to ask you if you'd like to come to one of my street races."

"you're still racing?!" my voice getting a little louder than i intended.

jennie jumped and put her hand over her heart. "jesus, jisoo!"

"sorry... but i thought you were done with races."

jennie shrugged and sighed. "i can't stop. over time, i just got addicted to the rush i guess. it's okay if you don't want to come."

"no, i'll come." i smiled at her. i wasn't going to like it, but i saw that she was making an effort to hang out and take things at my own pace and i was more than thankful for that.

that night, i tried to wear something to fit the event's atmosphere. i didn't really have anything, but i remembered i still had one of jennie's leather jackets. she had let me wear it one night while we walked in the city because i was cold.

i paired that with black shorts, black sneakers and a white t-shirt underneath the jacket. when i opened the door for jennie, i saw her give me the once-over. i told my parents i was leaving and pulled her hand so we could go to her race.

"how can you go from hot one second to absolutely adorable the next?" jennie finally spoke up once we were in her car. i tilted my head in confusion. jennie proceeded to point up and down at me. "you are not aloud to be this hot. how am i suppose to stay concentrate when i know you're waiting for me looking like that.

i laughed and felt my cheeks warming up, but it wasn't visible due to the darkness of the night. we arrived at our sketchy destination and i readied myself for another night filled with maybe-troublesome events.

"you sure you want to be here? i could always drive you back home." jennie told me as she put one hand on my thigh.

"no, i said i was going to be here. besides, i want to watch other people get jealous of how badass my girl is." i said and winked.

"shouldn't i be the one to call you 'my girl'?" jennie chuckled and added, "next thing you know, you'll be calling me 'babe'."

"what if i do call you 'babe'?" i asked and leaned in towards her. i have no idea where all this courage came from.

"then that'll be what sends me over the edge and i'll be obligated to kiss you." she replied and leaned in closer, leaving just enough space for our nose to almost touch.

"really?" i asked, in a challenging tone. she nodded and smirked. i bit my lip and stared down at hers. "babe." i whispered.

i watched her lick her lips and closed my eyes. just as i thought i was going to receive the best kiss i've ever had, i felt nothing... at least not on my lips. instead, i felt my left cheek being pecked. i opened my eyes and frowned.

"what?" jennie asked innocently. innocent, my ass.

"you said you were going to kiss me."

"and i did."

"but..."

"but what, you little perv?" she asked and smirked. i wanted to wipe that annoying smirk off her face so bad. i huffed and sunk in my seat. i heard her giggle before she made me turn my head towards her. "how about we make a little deal? if i win my first race, i get to kiss you... on your beautiful lips. if i lose the first one, you get to kiss me?"

i snorted. "you're the perv."

"hey, do you want to kiss or not?"

"fine, deal." i stole a kiss on her cheek and got out of her car. "hold on, why did we get out of your car? aren't you racing with this?"

"with my bmw? hell nah. i can't risk to scratch this baby. plus, i have a modified car to drag race anyways."

"why didn't you drive it here?"

"lisa's the one who drives it here because i leave it at one of her uncles' garage. he's the one who helps me modify my vehicles." she explained and soon, we were standing in front of the car she was going to race with.

"yeah and he used to be my mechanic until this one came around." i knew that deep voice way to well and it didn't belong to someone i was very fond of.
