i didn't want to upset jennie more so i followed what she wanted me to do. i got up and i told her she didn't have to walk me to the door, but she still did.

all the way to the entrance, jennie's words rang in my head.

just to see if her parents will ever care about her

i had doubts that jennie's parents didn't really care about her as much as they should. i mean you always read about those kids in books, but never really meet any. then, i met jennie and her family. i never thought her problems were as bad as this.

a girl who'll never be good enough for you... for anyone

did she actually think that? that she wasn't worth it?

before i lost my chance, i decided to ask her that. "jennie, do you really think you're not worth being with?"

"jisoo--"

"no, you cut me off earlier, but now i need to talk and i need answers... at least just this one, please." i pleaded and tried to get her to look at me, without any success.

"please, just forget about what i said."

"no, i will not just 'forget about what you said' because i sure hope what you think is not true. your parents who don't care about you? they suck. they suck as parents and as people. i mean who the hell neglects their child?" i exclaimed and then softened my voice when i lifted jennie's head by her chin like she had done to me multiple times. "and i sure hope you know that you deserve all the happiness in the world, jennie kim. anyone would be hella lucky to have you, to be loved by you. i would be lucky if i had the chance to be loved by you."

all of a sudden, i felt the air being sucked out of me as jennie wrapped her arms around my body in a tight hug.
