Past comes to haunt

*Sonic Eternal*

  Sandy shakes her head. She obviously doesn't believe me and Mary. I just roll my eyes and get up. I make sure Mary doesn't notice since in her confusion I move her so she is laying down perfectly on the couch.

  "Whatever Sonic and Mary. You don't have to explain yourselves to me. That being said it takes guts to do that in broad daylight on a Saturday. Especially without a blanket." She winks at us.

  "Shut up before I send you to the hospital." I then hear someone in my head saying "Oh god Sonic you will have made my dreams come true if you do. Please knock her smug ass out!" I assume its Mary.

  Sandy doesn't say anything she just nods. I then point to the front door and she leaves the house. "Damn she's annoying." I say in my head.

  "You've got that right babe." Mary says while hugging me from behind.

  "Wait what?" I asked confused.

  "Didn't you just say and I quote, "Damn she's annoying" right babe." She has an innocent smile on her face.

  "Mary I didn't say that out loud. I said that in my head."

  "What? Then how did I hear it?"

  I just shrug. I have no clue how we could hear my thoughts.

  "Wait are all those vampire mangas actually true?" I hear Mary say.

  "What vampire mangas?"

  She looks at me surprised. I guess she said that in her mind.

  "Um..." She blushes. "I read mangas and in the vampire ones.....vampires can share their minds with the ones they are about to marry but..." She shakes her head. "No no no! That's too soon!" She screams.

  I tilt my head to show I'm confused. She just looks at me and has a very soft and sweet smile. I smile back at her.

  "It doesn't matter. We would never do it anyways." She hugs me.

  "If you say so. However there may not be school but I got to go somewhere today." I put a hand up when she is about to say something. "Before you even suggest it. You aren't coming with me. Its a sacred place that only monsters can go." I smile shyly.

  "Why do you call non humans monsters? Like you your dad Sandy and Angel and all of them?" She asks confused.

  I try to explain to her. "That's not by choice. Its what human society decided to call us after they discovered my kinds existence. I mean my kind as in monster kind for once."

  She starts to pout. I laugh a little causing her to pout even more. I flick her forehead playfully causing her to blush.

  "Have to leave now."

  "Fine." She pouts in defeat. "Just promise you are coming back?"

  "Promise."

  With that I get up and go to my room. I take off my shirt and then I fall to my knees. I grab my side in pain. I weakly open one eye to look. Looks like my timing is key. An injury I got on my first day as guardian put poisen into me. My father raced to a shrine that cures monsters from anything. However the poisen in me was a combo of several different deadly poisens. So the shrines water could only get rid of it for a little over a half a year at most. I go back there on the times in order to heal.

  I quickly get dressed and hope Mary doesn't hear how much I'm struggling. By the time I'm finally downstairs I see a note for me. It said...

    "Dear Sonic,
I am going out to the store. I have to grab some things for my mom and dad today. Hopefully we can talk later after you do what you have to do. Well I will see you either later today or tomorrow at school. You better not die today. Love you.
                                        -Sincerely, Babe"

  What's cute is she thinks there is a possibility I can die. Also its cute she left in an "xoxo" right after her name. Well its a good thing she isn't here. That way she won't be worried sick about me when she sees I'm struggling to do basically everything. Just in case though I use my super speed. I get to the shrine in about ten normal seconds. I just go and see the owner. He notices it's me and he leads me to the sacred healing waters.

  I go and take a few sips from it. That's when I'm forced once again to show my true form. I hear my bones cracking and rearranging. It is a slow and painful experience. I am happy when my last bone is turned into a vampire's bone. I kneel to the floor and start panting. At this time the owner has bolted to get me some blood to cool my nerves.

  After he comes back he smiles at what he sees. "My my Sonic you have matured." He says sweetly trying to act like a second parent. "I mean just look at you. So tall and rugged. Any monster girl will be lucky to have you."

  "Yeah well it's sad to say no monster girl will have me..." I start.

  "Oh yes how could I have forgotten....you believe that any girl who is with you is destined for sadness."

  "No not anymore....kind of...."

  "Your in love with a human girl aren't you?" He asks me.

  "Yup. Won't turn her though." I say straight up to his face.

  "Usually I would report that  statement to the monsters consul however...." He looks me up and down. "That would just mean great and horrible pain for you and her and a lot more wouldn't it Sonic?" He asks as if he knows about my vision.

  "Yes. She won't be able to control her blood lust if she is turned so I can't do that." I confess. "Just like her...."
