*Ruth's POV*
It was August 3rd, 2017, and I was on my way home from seeing Shawn Mendes perform at the Allstate Arena in Chicago. This was the second time I had seen him perform live, and he was incredible. His voice has grown so much since the previous year. I am still amazed, even after discovering him two years ago, of how he achieves such a beautiful tone; especially without having any training before being discovered on Vine. It is crazy that someone can have so much raw talent.
"Wow, I swear that Man sounds even better in person than he does in recordings." My friend leigh said, as I drove us back home. She's not really a huge Shawn fan, but she was the only friend that has gone to see Shawn with me.
"I know right, and he was so humble. He thanked us so much throughout the performance for supporting him. I was just thinking that we should be the ones that should be saying thank you. He creates such great music for his us, and not to mention how genuine he is."
"Hah, Alright Ruth, I didn't mean to get you started on another tangent about Shawn." Leigh joked.
"I'm sorry!" I exclaimed, "I just love him so much!"
"I know you do, I can't imagine the amount of dreams you've had about marrying him."
"Ugh, you know me too well." I laughed.
"Okay, but seriously, can you please let me talk about shawn for like at most twenty minutes?" I said, begging a little. "We just saw him in concert and I NEED to get it out."
"Ugh, fiiiine." leigh, annoyed. "But only twenty minutes. If you go over that, I'm just gonna tune you out."
"YAY!" I exclaimed. "Okay, so I know I constantly repeat myself, but I honestly love this kid so much. I literally can't get over how talented he is. Like it would be my dream to sing with him some day. What if he pulled me up on stage while he was performing and I got to perform a song with him?! Oh my God that would be a dream. And he's always so real with us. Like that one time when people kept saying how he gives off a "Gay vibe", he addressed that situation in such a mature way. It only happened when he was seventeen-years-old and he handled it like he was a mature, wise adult. He is nothing but kind all the time, and I appreciate him so much. I don't think there are words to describe it."
"Well your pretty good at using words to describe it now..." Leigh said, under her breath.
"Don't sass me girl! you were the one who said you would come to this concert with me! You're gonna have to deal with my Mendes Obsessiveness" I joked. "Anyways, I just love him so much, and I really wish I could meet him. It sucks that meet and greet tickets are so expensive."
"You could always save up?" Leigh said.
"Yeah that's true, but I looked online and it said the tickets were a thousand dollars. There's no way I'd be able to save up in time."
"What?" Leigh questioned. "There's no way, I don't even think Justin Bieber M&G tickets are that expensive. Are you sure they weren't in some kind of VIP package?"
"I don't know, I didn't check." I said.
"Hold on, I'm going to look this up cause that just sounds ridiculous to me."
Leigh took out her phone, and looked up ticket prices for Shawn's performance next month in Texas.
"Yeah Ruth, that was in a VIP pack. It says here that you can get one for three hundred."
"Oh my God, really?!" I exclaimed.
"What? Is that too expensive?" She asked.
"No that's perfect! Dude, I can totally save that much money, probably even more by next summer!" I've been nannying for these two boys that live near me, and the Mom pays me twelve dollars an hour, so I will be making plenty of money from now until Shawn's next show in Chicago.
"That's it, I'm sold. I'm going to save up for meet and greet tickets to meet Shawn next year."
And everyday after that, I dreamt of the day I would meet him.
