*Shawn's POV*

"I go to the bathroom for two minutes, and this is what happens?!" I yelled at Nash, who was still lying face up on the floor. My blood was boiling with rage, I never thought that Nash could do such a thing to a girl, especially such a sweet one like Ruth.

"What were you thinking?!" I exclaimed, Nash looking at me, frightened.

"Shawn, he's drunk, I don't think he knew what he was doing." I heard Ruth's meek voice say from behind me. I quickly turned around to go comfort her, leaving Nash on the ground.

"I know love, but that's no excuse for him to treat you like that. Are you okay?" I said, pulling her into my embrace.

"Yes, I'm fine. I'm sorry Shawn, I tried to stop him, really." Ruth explained nervously.

"It's not your fault. Don't worry, I'll take care of it."

"Don't hurt him, okay?" She said, grabbing my arm as I was walking back where Nash was laying.

"I know, I wont." I replied. Even at a time like this, Ruth still cared about the well-being of others, No one deserves her kindness.

"Get up." I demanded.

"What? You gonna fight me or something, Shawn?" Nash snickered.

"No, but you better get up before I change my mind." I threatened.

"Okay, fine." He stumbled to his feet.

"You are so lucky that my body guard was not here to see this, or you would be in really bad shape." I said, my voice filling with anger again.

"Sssso what, I could have.... Have taken him." Nash said, his language still slurred from the alcohol running through his veins.

"Hah, you're funny." I spoke, sarcastically. "Just don't do it again, or you'll be sorry." I said, pointing my finger onto his chest.

"Whateverrrr." He replied, pushing my hand away.

"I can't handle you anymore." I was sick of his drunk ass. None of what I was saying was getting through to him.

"What seems to be the problem?"

I peered over Nash to see a security guard approaching us. He must have noticed what was going on.

"This man was.... Assaulting my girlfriend...... Inappropriately. He needs to be escorted elsewhere." I explained, awkwardly.

"Who is your girlfriend?" The officer asked.

"She's standing right here." I said, motioning in Ruth's direction.

"Is this true ma'm?"

"Yes." She replied.

"Would you like to press charges?" He questioned.

"No, it wasn't a big deal, we just really want him out." Ruth answered.

"Okay. Sir, come with me." The officer said, grabbing Nash's arm, and taking him away. Nash tried to fight it, but he was far too gone to even stand up straight. The officer practically had to hold him up.

"Thank you Shawn, for not hurting him." Ruth said, hugging me from behind.

"Of course. I'm sorry I wasn't there to stop it. I promise I will never let anything like that happen to you again." I said, turning around to give her a proper embrace.

"It's okay, Shawn."

"I love you, you know that?"

"I know." Ruth said.

"Let's go home."

~

*Ruth's POV*

Unfortunately, the day had come. I had to go back home. School starts in a few days, and I hadn't even packed yet. Me, Shawn, and his family were standing in the Toronto airport, saying our goodbyes to each other. I had so much fun spending time with them. Everyday I spent with Shawn, the deeper I fell in love with him. The last thing I wanted to do was leave, being with him was so easy.

"Bye Ruth, I'm glad we got to spend time with you." Mr. Mendes said, hugging me.

"Me too." I said, hugging him back, then embracing Mrs. Mendes as well.

"I'm gonna miss you, Ruth." Aaliyah said.

"I'm gonna miss you to girlie." I said, giving yet another embrace.

"Mom, Dad, can I have a minute?" Shawn asked.

"Of course love." Mrs. Mendes said, taking Mr. Mendes and Aaliyah to sit on the bench a ways away from us. Shawn waited until they were out of earshot, then let everything out.

"I'm going to miss you, so much." He said, placing his hands around my waist and looking into my eyes.

"I know babe, I'm going to miss you too." I said, looking into his beautiful brown-green ones.

"I love you." He said, his eyes beginning to water.

"I love you too, but don't worry, we'll see each other soon." I reassured.

"Four weeks is a long time Ruth, and we've only been dating for two, what if something happens?"

"Don't worry babe. We'll Facetime as much as we can, you can visit anytime you want, and vise versa. Besides, we're two people that love each other, that's enough." I explained, wiping away his tears.

We stood there, looking at one another, taking each other in. Then, before I could take another breath, Shawn's lips were crashing into my own. I felt static spread across my entire being as our lips moved in unison. We were both like magnets, so drawn to each other. I just wanted to stay frozen in time. I would be fulfilled if I spent the rest of my life in this moment. I didn't know leaving him was going to be this hard.

"I love you so much." I said, as our lips came apart, our heads still close together.

"I love you too, pretty girl."

"Alright." I sighed. "I really need to go, I'm sorry." I said, pulling my head back but still grasping his hand tight.

"Okay, bye babe." He said, as I took a step towards security.

"Goodbye, I'll call you when I land."

As we slowly let go of each other's hands, I saw a tear drip from Shawn's eye, and felt the static fade. These next few weeks were going to be hell without him.
