Chapter Nine

It had started to get dark so we went back inside to my room. We laid down on my bed side by side. Maddie grabbed my hand, hers was soft and warm. I felt safe with her, I didn't want her to leave.

I let go of her hand and curled up next to her, taking advantage of the medicine. She wrapped her arm around me.

"How long did you check in on me." I asked breaking the silence this time.

"For about two years." she said.

I closed my eyes leaning my head against her chest, listening to her steady heartbeat. She had told me that whatever she had didn't effect her heart like mine did.  Her heartbeat was normal, and not altered, she wasn't going to have to put medicine in it to keep it beating when she is around healthy people. I didn't want to think of her with what I had. I didn't want her to suffer with how I had.

"Moon!" she yelled.

She sat me up putting distance between us.

"What?" I said looking at her.

"Your nose is bleeding."

I ran to the bathroom looking at myself in the mirror, blood was running down my lips. I grabbed some toilet paper and wiped it off. I ran back to my room and went to my bag that I had taken from the hospital. I grabbed one of the syringes and injected it into my arm.

I had enough to last me for a month, I just had to remember to take it.

Maddie was still on the bed, while I was crouched on the floor. I didn't have the strength to get back up. She got up offering her hand to me. I took it, she wrapped her arm around my waist to keep me up.

"What is it like?" she asked. "Being around healthy people when you don't take that stuff."

"It is a pain. It takes my breath, causes nosebleeds, blackouts, or I just pass out completely, I'm scared of it sometimes, it could kill me."

She sat me down on the bed. Looking at me with worry. A look that I had come accustom to. The look my teachers gave me when I would have to run out into the hall just to catch my breath. The look my family would give me every time I hugged them.

"And it sucks! It sucks that they don't know why the f**k I have this or what the f**k is actually wrong with me. And they don't know what to do, how to get rid of it. And I can't ever have kids, the sick genes will carry onto them and they will be cursed with this suckish life, I don't want that for anyone. I just wish they will get rid of it."

I threw myself onto the bed, her arm going with me. She pulled her arm out from under me and tapped her left arm. Music started playing, not from today, but from when I was actually 15. It was Hey Brother by Avicii

She started singing along, her voice blending in with the auto tuned.

"If the sky comes falling down for you, there's nothing in this world I wouldn't do, for you."

I started singing along with her.

"What if I'm far from home?

Oh brother I will hear you call,

What if I loose it all,

Oh sister I will help you out,

oh, and if the sky comes falling down, for you, there's nothing in this world I wouldn't do."

I smiled as the song ended.

"How do you know the lyrics to that?"

She shrugged like it was no big deal. "I listen to old music all the time, old music to me at least."

"I am here with you Moon, if you need me, give me a call, and I will be there. I will do anything for you. 'There's nothing in this world I wouldn't do, for you.'"

I blushed the moment she said this. She laid back down beside me putting her arm around me. I fell asleep in her arms.

A/N:

Hi everyone. So I really need some opinions, so far the story has been from Moon's POV, but I am thinking of having part of the story from Maddie's POV. What do you guys think? Please comment on whether or not you want to have Maddie's POV in the story. Thankyou for reading and I love feedback. Please comment and vote.
