The Moon and the Earth

Chapter Seven

My family wasn't allowed to visit, they didn't want to risk me getting worse if the medicine didn't work.
There was a healthy nurse with me at all times.
I wasn't allowed to see Maddie, I only saw glimpses of her when walking down the hall to a testing room. The nurse that was around when I woke up wasn't allowed to be around me for telling me that I was in a coma, which was the doctors job.
When tests weren't being done I was allowed to watch tv (they had to ship in shows that were still being aired before I was in a coma for me) and read.
By the end of the week I was sick of hospital food and had finished all the shows from 2016 and moved onto the shows from today,or watching the news, which had said that all countries had finally declared a state of peace and no war.

I was laying in bed watching the only good remake of Annie when the doctor walked in with a smile on her face.
"Good news. "
I sat up and bit my lip in anticipation.
"Your all set to go back home."
I jumped out of the bed and hugged her.
"Maddie will help you get your things together."

Maddie had taken me to the storage closet where they stored my clothes from when I first came in. She walked me back to my room. She looked away as I got dressed.
"My mom said once I get home I'll get one of the chips in my arms for the phones."
She looked up and smiled. She lifted her left arm and started tapping it. She grabbed a pen from the table and wrote her code on my arm.
"Shoot me a message when you do."
I blushed when she said it, I hope she didn't see. I gave her a hug and thanked her for helping me.
She walked out of the room and into the hall. I stayed for a little while more, then I heard something voices. I leaned against the wall to listen in.
"Your tests were done a week ago Madeline. Why did you stay?"
I didn't recognize the voice, but I rec9gnized the next one.
"Everytime I checked in on her in knew she wouldn't have a relationship, because of Sam. I don't know why but I signed up to keep watch of her. And I think I started falling for her. And when they finished the tests I didn't want to leave. I wanted to see if she would wake up."
There was silence. The only sound was my heart racing in my ears.
"I see, but you know she is forty years older than you."
There was another silence.
"She doesn't look like it...and they said she won't start aging rapidly or die once she turn 90, she will age the same as me, she will look the same age as me. And I'm sure she doesn't feel forty years older "
"OK say she does get with you, what if you kill her."
"She has the medicine for it...I don't want to think of that."
I got off of the wall. I could tell I was blushing badly.
There was only one thing i got from any of that...was that Maddie liked me...so much she would stay in the hospital to see if I would wake up.
