I woke up to someone coming in. It was Maddie. She was carrying a tray that had two plates of food.

"They told me to wake you up and bring you breakfast. And i thought since your parents aren't here yet you might not want to eat alone." she said setting it down on the table next to the bed.

I nodded and smiled. She pulled up the chair and handed me my plate. It was eggs and pancakes, almost hard as a rock.

"I know it isn't the best food, but it is nutritious!" She said shoving the eggs into her mouth.

I smiled and started eating.

"So how long have you had...whatever it is you have?" i asked.

She shrugged. "It was only recently about a few years ago that they started running test, but before that i had been in and out of hospitals, i was around two when the doctors saw it, but they think i had it when i was born."

I nodded and started trying to cut the pancakes with the plastic utensils.

"How about you."

I looked up at her and tried to remember when it all started.

"I've had it since i was born, but it didn't take effect since i was five, i was at church and i started seizing, i was being baptized, there was this boy before me, and the doctors think that because he was in the water before me that when i was put in his healthiness got to me. I was in the hospital for about a week, since then i could never do what others could. I had to keep a distance. Then i met Sam when i was thirteen. We started dating and when i was fifteen, things went farther than they were suppose to, and i ended up here."

She had stopped eating, she just realized what it all meant.

"So you can never be..."

I nodded. "Unless it is with someone with the same illness."

She looked down at her food. "I'm sorry."

I shook my head. "Nonono, its fine, its not your fault, and after what happened yesterday i don't think i can be in a relationship ever again." I said laughing.

She was still looking down, she cringed when i said i couldn't be in a relationship again. Was it possible, she liked me?

Before i could ask the door slid opened and my brother walked in. He had one hand in his pocket and the other was holding the hand of a little girl not much older than five.

"There is your aunt Cece." he said letting go of her hand.

I set my plate on the table and threw the covers off. "Johnny, you have a kid?"

He nodded. Maddie stood up saying she had to go and took our plates and left.

I spent the rest of the day getting to know my niece, while they were running tests
