Phil and Sabrina woke up early and ran to the kitchen. “We have to be quiet ok?” Phil says as he pours sugar into a bowl. Sabrina nods carefully handing her father a fork. They mixed the pancakes and started to sizzle them in the pan.

After half an hour; the two had fried three pancakes and had set them on a tray with a card and a box of Dan’s favorite; Maltesers. Phil opened the door to his boyfriend’s bedroom and Dan moved a bit in his sleep. “1, 2..” Phil says whispering. “3!” “Happy Birthday Dad!” Sabrina says. Dan slits his eyes open and turns toward the two at the end of the bed. “I told you I don’t like a big fuss for my birthday.” Dan says smiling at the arrangement. “Well it is your 25th,” Phil says setting the tray on the bed. “I made you something.” Sabrina says handing Dan a card. “Thank you sweetheart, it’s beautiful.” Dan says kissing her forehead. “Here, try a bite.” Phil says feeding his boyfriend. “Delicious you two.” He says chewing and swallowing. “I’m surprised that you didn’t hear us, dad almost dropped the whole bowl of batter.” Sabrina says. “My hands were slippery from the butter ok?” Phil says in his defense. Dan smiles at him. “Thank you guys.” Dan says. “Now get out of here.” He says nicely as possible. Sabrina giggles at her father and his attitude.

Later Dan emerged. “Now are there any more birthday surprises to worry about?” Dan says. “Nope,” Phil says. “I can’t trust you, Sabrina is there anything else?” Sabrina looks up from her Animal crossing game. “Nope,” Dan nods and sits on his couch fold. “Phil,” he says. “Yes Dan,” Phil says not looking up from his tea. “Why am I sitting on a box?” “I don’t know you sat on the box.” Dan rolled his eyes and opened the hastily wrapped box. “Now we can match.” Phil says throwing his socked foot in the air. “Yeah,” Dan says unexcitedly. “I’m sorry, I knew you wouldn’t like them.” Phil says blushing. “No, no I love them.” Dan says kissing Phil on the cheek.
