Aedin buttoned and unbuttoned the top of shirt at least twenty times. He was so jittery and nervous, he didn’t want to act like an idiot in front of the girl he had liked forever. He finally left the button unbuttoned and did a final check on his appearance. He walked out and Melanie took a picture of him. “Mom, calm down it’s not prom.” He says putting his hands in his pockets. “I’m sorry, it’s just my baby’s first dance.” She says as she snaps another photo. “Babe, stop.” Ian says giggling. “Whatever, when you’re older and don’t remember this moment, you’ll come crying to me with the pictures.” She says. “Let’s get going.” Ian says grabbing his keys.

Aedin didn’t like the fact that his parents were chaperoning this dance so as soon as he got there he dragged Jordan over towards the table in the back. Ian and Melanie stood with the other parents, Ian looking like he wanted to be put out of his misery. Later Kayla and Kim showed up and sat across from them. Kim looked so beautiful. Her hair brought out her broad cheek bones that he loved so much.

A slow song came on. This was his big chance! He looked to make sure his parents weren’t looking. “Kim, do you um want to dance maybe?” He says, his voice cracking on the ‘maybe?’ She giggled and his blushed. “Sure,” He took her hand and led her to the floor where others, including Jordan and Kayla, were dancing. They hid in the middle of everyone and danced. She could dance well, and well, he tried. “I have to tell you something.” Aedin says. She looks up at him and he almost chokes. “I um have been liking you for a while.” He says shyly. She blushes and looks down at her feet. “I’ve liked you for a while too.” Melanie looks over and gasps. “Ian, Ian, Look over at Aedin!” she whispers to her husband. Ian looks over to his son dancing with his god daughter. “Aw,” he pulls out his phone and starts to record. “Anthony and Kalel would love to see this.” Aedin takes in a deep breath. “Do you want to maybe go out with me?” Kim blushes, he loves that. “Ok.” She says smiling. The song got finished and he led her back to the table, letting the nervousness melt away and be replaced with happiness.
