Jack's POV
After grabbing various weapons as well as the brainwashing gadget from the secret room, I teleported us downstairs so that we could find the assembly hall. I still can't get my mind off of what happened earlier. I feel like I should've expected it, but it was still an extreme shock.
Walking down the hallway, we spotted the assembly room doors and snuck up to them. Everyone was already inside talking, but it hadn't officially started yet. I couldn't see Fall or any of he bodyguard-type people. However, the tiny windows could only help so much and we needed to do this before the assembly started.
"Ready?" Mark asked, I nodded. "Okay, on the count of three, we'll barge in and take out as many people as we can while reverse-brainwashing our group."
"One" Mark said, taking a strong hold of his gun.
"Two" I whispered, grabbing a hold of the door so I could swung it open.
"Three!" We both yelled, running in the room and shooting whoever we could with the brainwashing gadget to hopefully reverse the effect. If anyone came at us, the plan was to show little to no mercy. It was like the hunger games, but it's all of them against just two of us.
A girl who looked about in her twenties jumped up from her seat and ran at me. To defend myself, I took one of the throwing knives from a pocket attached to my belt loop and flung it at her. It stuck in her shoulder, below her collar bone and she fell to the ground. A teen boy came at me next, so I used my throwing knives again. This time one stuck in his leg, making him fall to the ground, but he agonizingly extracted it from his upper thy and proceeded to stand and quickly limp toward me. The next one caught him in the stomach, making him pull it out again. The clang from bloody metal hitting the concrete was one of such intensity that I could tell just how determined he was to get to me. Finally, when the boy was less than ten feet from me, I whipped one last knife at him, hitting it's target, right in the middle of his forehead. He fell to the ground face down, causing the knife to be shoved further through his skull. I looked over to see Mark battling a full grown man and doing better than I had fighting either of the people I just had.
I used my power to capture theirs and absorb them for my own use. It wasn't long before another person came charging at me. This one was a young, less than 15 year old girl who was holding up a bow and ha a quiver of arrows on her back. She grabbed an arrow and attached it to the bow, pulling on the cord to increase tension. When she let go, it came whizzing towards me. I leaned backward, using one of my acquired powers to slow done time so that I could effectively dodge the arrow. I looked back at her as she stared in amazement at how I survived. With the opportunity of her weakness, I swiftly grabbed a throwing knife and whipped it at her bow, snapping the string and lodging in her arm. Because I ruined her bow, she suddenly looked really angry and used her power to throw a dangerously sharp ice shard at me. I slowed time to move out of the way and get closer to her. Once I was close enough, I put the girl in a choke hold and threatened to strangle her.
"Where is Fall?!" I practically yelled at her.
"I don't know! She was supposed to be here to present an assembly, but she didn't show up. Let me go!" She demanded.
"Not until you tell me where I can find Fall!"
"Fine!! She is in her office because she knew you were coming!"
"How?!"
"I don't know! I think she can read minds or something!"
I let the girl go and she ran away from me, back into the middle of the crowd. It was clear to me that Mark had been saving our group because many more of the bad guys were being taken out. I ran to each body, taking it's power so that Fall couldn't get them.
Eventually, anyone who wasn't fighting with me and Mark ran from the room, leaving us with our little army and a bunch of dead people. I was about to leave the room when Mark stopped me.
"Hey Jack, I recruited lots of people to fight with us!" He began.
"That's awesome!"
"Also, Liza here has the power to create things out of thin air, so if you need weapons or something, just come to her, okay?"
"Sound like something that will help a lot!"
We went through every recruit, establishing the knowledge of what each of them had as a power. There were some like healing, telekinesis, telepathy, etc. but one of the most interesting one was Bob's. He has such strong healing that he can actually get someone back from the dead. So, I though it'd be a good idea to revive the dead warriors from the battles and also try to recruit them; it ended up working very well.
