Chapter 26

Milo’s pov         

The smell of sterile equipment and cleaning fluid passed through my nose and the steady sound of beeping flooded my ears, I slowly opened my eyes and was immediately swamped by my brother

“Milo, you’re awake…. Jesus Christ dude you scared me to death” he said jumping off a seat and coming over to me. I looked around confused, where was Abby and the twins. I needed to make sure they were ok.

Looking around I saw a shiny white walls with a window to my side with a bunch of flowers on and a TV on the wall opposite me with a few chairs under it. I looked down and saw I was laid out on a bed with sticky things stuck to my chest leading to a machine next to me beeping away; the smell in here was so sterile it made me shiver.

“Dan” I said raspyily my voice croaky like I’d not spoken for ages

“Yeah it’s me bro” he said plonking down on the bed next to me, his eyes red and puffy with dark circle under them. He looked like he needed a good night’s sleep

“Dan where’s Abby, Harley and Harry” I panicked looking around and not seeing them, flashes of the blood spilling from my babies passing through my mind.

“Milo….. Who are Harley and Harry, you were shouting for them a while ago” He asked me sadly

“Dan what’s going on where is Abby and the kids?”  I said getting worked up the machine started beeping faster as my heart rate increased in panic.  

“Milo do you know where you are?” he asked putting his hands on my shoulders pushing my slightly back into the bed trying to calm me

“My guess is at the docs” I shrugged angrily glaring at him “Dan what the hell is going on, where are the kids, I need to know they’re only four. Are they ok? Is Abby with them?”

He looked at me in utter disbelief, his eyes scrunched together as he started chewing on his lip

“Milo the babies aren’t even born yet” he said quietly looking straight at me when it all came flooding back, the attack, Abby being hurt, Whitney, the pain, oh so much pain then the darkness….holy crap it must have been a dream

“It...It was just a dream” I said quietly looking up at Dan who just nodded sadly at me

“Yeah bro, you’ve been out of it for a week” he said cringing as I jumped out of bed ripping the sticky things off me

“A FUCKING WEEK, WHAT THE HELL” I screamed at him, I was out of it a week, what had happened to keep me out of it so long, what about Abby was she ok

“Milo you need to get back in bed” he said looking at me pacing around the room muttering to his self

“nothing they tried would wake you up. No one knew what to do. Abby was the same nothing could bring her around either”

“Yeah not going to happen. Dan. Where’s Abby?”

“She’s in the next room” he stuttered as I flew through the door and barged into the next room stopping in my tracks at the sight I was seeing.
