Dear Toby,
I’m not really sure why I felt like I needed to go and see you the other day. I just had this image in my head of you arguing with your brother and then feeling so alone. That’s how I always feel after arguments- even if I’m not a part of them. I just always feel alone when someone’s shouting. I hope you know that whether I’m busy or not I am always there for you. I’d drop everything for you, Toby. You’re my only friend.
Well, I suppose I’m sort of friends with Thea now too. She’s so nice. You’re both so nice sometimes I can hardly believe it. You know the sort of nice where you never get sick of hearing someone talk? Or being around them? That’s the kind of nice you both are. So I agree that we should spend more time together, because I don’t think I could ever get sick of spending time with you.
I’d love to learn how to play video games. They’re something that I’ve always been interested in but my parents always refused to get me a console, probably because of my addictive personality. I tend to get caught up in doing things and then that’s all that matters. Like running, for instance.
I’d love to take you running with me, Toby, really, I would. But I think that you really need to feel like doing it. I can’t do anything unless I feel like doing it, see: I have to be in the mood. I can start reading a book and never finish it unless I’m in the mood to read. I can pick up a pack of cards and quit halfway through a game if I don’t quite feel like playing. But if I feel like running I can run forever. So make sure you want to run with me and I’ll run forever with you.
Love,
Jack.
