'Nothing beats the chaos of the first day back to school after summer vaction,' Stiles thought to himself as he parked his Jeep in the school parking lot, observing the other students catching up with their friends. He couldn't help but let out a tired yawn while he stretched. Last night had been a bit. . . weird. Before he could start obsessing over it again, he spotted his best friend, Scott, pulling up on his motorcycle in the empty spot next to him. Grabbing his bag, Stiles stepped out of the car. After Scott made sure bike was secure, the boys proceeded to walk into school.

"So. .," Stiles began.

"So. .," Scott repeated.

"Any theories about what exactly happened with that deer last night?" Stiles had a few of his own after doing a little bit of research on animal behavior, but he wanted to hear what Scott thought. He watched as his best friend shrugged and shook his head. "Not really. All I know for sure is that it was afraid of something. Besides that, I have no idea why it would want to ram itself through the windshield of Lydia's car."

"Well, since you know nothing about that, maybe you know what you're going to do about the other situation."

Scott looked at him, puzzled. "The other situation? What situation?"

Stiles rolled his eyes at his friends obliviousness. "Allison's back from France." Scott nodded slowly, realizing that he had been referring to his current  situation with his ex-girlfriend. "I mean, I know you didn't talk all summer, but how are you going to be around each other without there being any awkwardness now that's school's back in session?"

"We'll get through it," Scott says. "Sure, it's going to be a little weird at first, but we'll muttle through. I'm sure of it."

Not wanting to press the issue any further, Stiles just nods and drops it. He knew it had been a hard couple of months for Scott. With Allison being all the way in France, he thought it'd be easier for him to deal with the break up, but it was just as difficult. First loves aren't easy to let go of. Stiles knew that first hand. Having gotten lost in his own thoughts, he barley heard Scott ask him a question in return.

"What was that?" he asked.

"I said, what about Lydia?" Scott answered.

Speaking of first loves... "What about her?"

"Well, with Jackson out of the picture, she's finally on the market. Are you going to take a shot with her?"

"No."

Scott looked at him, surprised. Stiles chuckled a little. "Close your mouth before you catch flies."

"I'm sorry, I'm just surprised. You've waited forever for Lydia! And now that she's available, you're not even going to attempt to make a move on her?" Scott questioned.

At this point, they had made it to their lockers and were unloading the unneccessary crap taking up space in their backpacks. "I know, it's a little weird," Stiles started. He glanced over at Scott who was giving him a bewildered look. "Alright, it's a lot weird. But, I did some thinking over the summer, and I've decided it's time to venture off into new territory. "

Scott still couldn't believe what his friend was saying. Unsure if he was being serious, he asks for clarification. "So, you're completely over Lydia?"

"I still care for her," Stiles explained. "But she doesn't have the same feelings that I do. She probably never will. And, you know what? That's okay. We'll probably make better friends than sweethearts." As they walked down the hall again, Scott realized that he was serious. Stiles really wanted to try to get over Lydia.
