how the story ends.

promise me
she whispered

the light in her eyes
already dimming

promise me--
she choked
you'll tell me
what happens

to our last pages

how the story ends

you promise?

and if you looked closely
you'd see

that last light
in the house of her eyes

go out with a little pop
and off to bed she went
