Chapter Thirty-One

Dearest Penny,

As usual, your paintings are outstanding and I admire the skill you have with a paint brush. I don't remember you ever painting me, or even mentioning that was something you'd be willing to do, however it was very lively and I appreciate the effort you put into this masterpiece. You are truly a talented young lady and I believe someday you could be one of those great muggle artists. Though I think working in the Ministry like your father is still a good choice, it's a more promising and solid future for you and you deserve a good life.

But I am not writing this letter to tell you what to do with your life, your father does plenty of that already. I am writing this letter to you in the hopes to straighten out us, because I think we can both agree that you did not just send that painting as a Christmas gift, but as an attempt at winning me over.

I realize how self conceded that sounds, but I hope you can look at it from my stand point. You knew I was with Clara and you sabotaged the relationship I had. Yes, I realize I was no saint in the situation either, we all make mistakes, but the fact that you deliberately got in between us is not something I can appreciate.

Darling, I think you are wonderful. You are beautiful, smart, organized, and you know where you want to go in life. I admired all those things about you when we first met, plus so much more as I got to know you better. I still admire those things about you, but I cannot say I have the same intense feelings I had once before. You are an attractive young lady but was it ever going to work out between us?

Maybe we were blinded by the dazzling lights of love and were unable to see where the end was located. But Penny, this is my last year at Hogwarts, you still have one more year to explore your academics and possible career choice. Life moves on, and so do people. Penny I think it's time for you to move on from our past, as I have done, and find out what means the most to your in life.

Maybe you'll find another love in your upcoming year, because that is possible, and maybe you wont. Hogwarts only takes up a very small portion of our life, so we shouldn't dwell so much on the situations that unfold within those stone walls.

I met Clara under that roof, and maybe we'll have a big future together, or maybe that will never happen. The outcome is unknown, so we should try our best and do what we think is right and that's all we can really do.

What we had was real, and it was fun. But I trust that if you follow your heart, and aim for the stars, darling you can accomplish anything.

I loved you once. But people change, things go wrong. Just remember, life goes on.
