Chapter 13 - Helios

- Present Day – Year 2022

Izumi stopped and exhaled slowly. Everyone was bewildered. Such a thing exists. Reaper. And the man behind everything is Adam. He was responsible for the massacre 10 years ago and he is going to do it again.

How will you ever know what turns your life will take and who will be responsible for it? In many cases its fate but not today. It wasn't fate that decided their turns in life. It was Adam. How can you understand something so absurd? Kenji and Izumi weren't thinking that way. Their entire life was absurd. But right now everyone were part of that absurd circle.

Eric was irritated. He didn't want to think about it. He was angry at his own ignorance. Or maybe he never truly tried to understand the situations. He was naïve. A spoiled blinded brat who turned away from the truth. But that truth is in front of him. In fact the truth is revolving inside everyone's head. An undeniable truth.

'How do you know all this?' Kenji asked.

'Elina' Izumi answered.

'Why would she help you if she's with Adam?'

'For her son of course! No matter how much blood Adam sheds, she won't fear or break from it. But when it comes to her own son getting killed, then as a mother she'll be scared of losing him' Izumi looked at Eric.

'Helping Eric?! For what reason?'

'Well, that is none of your concern!'

'What else do we need to know?' Kenji questioned him again.

Izumi turned back. 'Well, first I'll thank Charlotte and Enna for being good girls and standing quietly behind us. Thank You' he smiled. 'Now if you don't mind telling them why you killed William Walker and others in the lab then it'll be a great help to me' Izumi said and looked right towards the bushes.

'Whom are you talking about?' Kenji looked towards the same direction.

'Well of course I'm talking about Sir Desmond' Izumi pointed.

Desmond and others came out from the bushes and walked towards Kenji and Izumi.

'Only Sir Desmond should approach. You lot better stay away if you value your life' Izumi said without hesitating and turned back, facing Kenji.

'What did you say you punk?!' Max took a step towards Izumi in anger.

'Don't!' Desmond interrupted Max. There was fear in his voice. An unknown yet a known fear.

'But he...'

'He isn't bluffing. You'll get killed kid. So don't' Desmond looked towards Max. Max moved back and stood near Logan.

'You can beat him right Logan?' Max whispered.

'No! He's a monster!' Logan said without averting his gaze from Izumi. 'You saw how he pinned that man down.'

Max clenched his fist in irritation.

'What does he mean Desmond? You killed William Walker?!' Kenji questioned him.

'Oh my! This is one hell of a flashback huh!' Izumi laughed.

'You said something unnecessary again Izumi!' Desmond sighed. 'Well it doesn't matter. Don't hate me for it Eric but what I did had to be done for the sake of humanity and for Adam for the time being. Still, in the end he turned out the same as his father. Maybe worse' he looked at Eric. 'I assassinated William Walker and all our associates.'

'What?! Why?' Eric blurted.

'Because they became blind when they realized the true power of the Reaper. William wanted to do something good for everyone but when he finally understood about the reaper he wanted everything for himself. He wanted to control everything but Adam is far worse than William. He's going to destroy this world for all I know. He doesn't understand the true meaning of power that his father did' he looked towards Kenji. 'You failed to assassinate him, didn't you Kenji?'

'Yes. I was right in front of him. But I couldn't do it' he said, disappointed.

'Still you wouldn't had succeeded. Adam always knew about it. Instead, you would had ended up dead if you hadn't back off just when you did son' Desmond said.

'Blah, Blah, Blah!' Izumi interrupted. 'Cut all the bullshit for later Desmond. We don't have time for any of that' Izumi said. 'Listen well; everything I've said up till now is true. Believe me or not, it's your choice. Every word I said were exactly what Elina told me. They were what I wanted to know. I heard many things from Jillian when I first escaped and then I asked Elina, politely' he added. 'Well it was hard to get everything out of her so I offered her a deal to help you, Eric, and she'll do anything to let you out of this place. And that's that! Later she sneaked me in in one of the crate and here I am. I did kill everyone inside though!' he smiled as if he enjoyed it.

'You make me sick' Eric muttered.

'Oh my! I see you hate me before knowing everything about me!' Izumi laughed. 'Well as for Jillian, who'd knew she was an immune all along' Izumi shrugged.

'Are you immune too Desmond?' Kenji asked.

'Yes! Well I realized it too late though!' Desmond said.

'Anything else you want to say' Eric questioned Izumi. He wanted to know more, understand more. But he still rejected Izumi's word. He was still running away and hiding behind his questions and anger.

'There is one more thing, not much of an importance but I'll tell you. It's about Helios' Izumi started.

'You mean this island?' Eric asked in curiosity.

'Yeah! To be exact the name Helios suits is perfectly.'

'How?' Kenji asked.

'This island as its name says is just like a sun. It has its own nine islands revolving around it just like the nine planets revolving around sun' Izumi answered. Everyone were surprised and couldn't think logically. How this is even possible is what everyone thought.

'What do you mean Izumi?' Kenji asked again.

'Sir Desmond knows about it too. Think of this island as core and the nine other island as its pieces revolving around it. What William thought was that the Reaper didn't cool down when it emerged on this island or more precisely it wasn't born yet.'

'Not born?!' Kenji muttered.

'Yes. Later William and his team came to carry on its research and found crystal form of the reaper. The most surprising thing happened later. The pieces of this island submerged under the water started emerging and rotating around this island. William came to conclusion that this island was were the core was born and those nine islands were the pieces, revolving around the core. The precise number being nine was surprising even to William. For him it was nature's power to do things. Also Reaper's core is still deep inside this island' he explained. 'That even I don't understand. Was it on purpose or... The meteor hitting this island seems a lie but...' he thought but couldn't connect all the dots.

'That is the reason Adam didn't destroy this island when he did destroy Area-D. He didn't want to destroy the crystalized reaper.' Desmond explained.

'And Sir Desmond had the honor to name this island Helios.' Izumi added. 'If Adam realized what's going on here then he will surely send in his troops to eliminate us but don't worry I'll chop them off' Izumi looked away. He was thinking if it was the right decision to tell them everything. They might had discovered it later. 'Adam might kill Elina if he realizes it' Izumi looked towards Eric. 'Also I've made other preparations just in case' he thought.

'It would be better if he did destroy the island' Desmond said, trembling.

'Why?' Eric asked.

'Because he let live something that was supposed to never exist' Izumi added. He seemed irritated.

'What is it Izumi?' Kenji asked. 'What is it that Desmond is so afraid of? What is it that makes even you tremble in fear?'

'Someone like me is called an altered. That thing is an altered just like me. But unlike you've ever felt. It's completely lost its humanity and is a living monster, devouring everyone it sees. I've seen it in Adam's records but I've never felt this pressure before. It's something that wasn't supposed exist. But Adam let it be' Izumi said. He was sweating.

'What is it Izumi?' Kenji looked towards Desmond and then Izumi.

'It's called Juggernaut' Izumi clenched his fists, trembling.
