- Manhattan Ruins – Altered's Base

The wind howled in the destroyed city, sweeping the sand that covered the land. The howling was soothing and yet it was lonely, calling for a long lost peace. It takes many to build wonders but only one man to lay waste to them. Has it been that that man never existed, will things differ? No. Because as long as humanity stands, destruction will stand beside them. Manhattan was one of it. A land of nothingness.

In the barren land, two altered humans were guarding the gates of a base. A base that was built in between the fallen buildings, whose debris was used as walls, to avoid any unknown visitors. If looked from the top of any standing buildings nearby, it looked like a box shaped base. There were only two entrances and both were guarded by at least two altered.

It was a base structured by the Altered's that once were humans. But now, their very existence wasn't human.

The walls were built with fallen debris, cargo containers, abandoned cars and trucks, which were lined up to fill any gaps in the walls. Two entrances on each side were double metal gates, at least ten feet tall and twenty feet wide. The gates were heavy but the Altered's body was physically stronger compared to when they were just human.

Other than the structure, the base always had an eerie feeling and darkness revolving around it. The one controlling the base was known as Ajax. He was full of pride and killed anyone who defied him. He was an altered whose body was covered in pale pink colored scales called to be stronger than steel.

Ajax was the most feared among everyone. He had several male human's body pierced with a long metal rod through their heart and placed them in front of both the entrances. Head placed on the walls, as his way of decorations. He thought of himself as a god of this new world. There were more than one hundred Altered's under his command. They were all male. Majority of the altered only gained physical strength. There were few like Ajax who gained more and then there were those few who turned into monsters.

'Pathetic!' Ajax spit on one of his men. 'I gave you one order and this is what you bring me?' he looked around. 'Only twenty human females.' His eyes widened in anger. His eyes were black, like darkness took over and all that was left felt like a never ending bottom. He motioned his hands and placed it on one of his men's head. He gritted his teeth and pulled the head off of his body like a bottle cap. Blood squirted everywhere, as if a soda bottle was opened after shaking it. His body fell on the ground with a thud and twitched for a few seconds before dying completely. He threw his head behind him where the male human's and his men's heads were piled up like a mountain. A mountain of his anger's satisfaction.

'Boss-' one of his men tried to speak but Ajax's anger shut him up. He stepped back.

'All of these human females are pathetic. I won't be satisfied with twenty.' Ajax gazed at them with an unsatisfied look. He asked for a whore who would satisfy him but in return, all he got was cheap product. 'I gave you those ten human females, and for what? You're still fucking them even after they died right? AND YOU CAN'T MANAGE TO GET NEW ONES' he screamed. Silence spread throughout the base. The base shuddered. Or it felt like it did when Ajax screamed.

'But boss, our men were injured too. We didn't expect the humans to be so well equipped' one of his other men, Chris said.

'Chris' Ajax looked at him. He jolted back. 'Did anyone die?' he questioned. His voice was heavy. One wrong word and Chris's head will be joining with the others.

'No' Chris slowly uttered.

'So? You could have easily raided the human base and got all their females right?'
