Chapter 20 - The One they seek

After the event that occurred, everyone's mind was in distress. Charlotte had died. Izumi was standing at a distance, away from everyone else.

They buried Charlotte and put a stone as a tombstone. Everyone wanted to remember her. She'd hate to see anyone crying. But for once, she'd let it slide. Because life moves on no matter the hardship. They will all move on once they let it all out.

'Are they doing all right Sir Izumi?' Jeff asked. He seemed worried. Even though he just met them, more precisely saw them, he thought that it was not fair for someone or anyone innocent to die.

'No. Their world is different than ours' Izumi glanced over at the other side, looking at the never ending ocean. 'Even Ken doesn't seem good. He finally found some people who still trusted him, even after I told them about his past and who he is. He just lost one of them. A precious member of his family that he became a part of' he looked behind, where everyone was kneeling besides Charlotte's grave.

'Sir...'

Kenji came back and stood at a distance from the choppers. Izumi went ahead and stood beside him. 'It's really hard for them. Enna is crying. Eric, he's all broken right now' Kenji said and looked back at Izumi. 'When I look at these hands' he raised both of his hands and clenched them, 'I can still see the blood of the people I have killed. No matter what I do, it won't disappear. No matter how hard I try to clean them, it won't disappear' he looked away from his hands. 'I want to protect them Izumi' he quavered.

'You will Ken.'

'I want to protect you' Kenji's eyes blurred, with tears rolling down his face.

'Ken...' Izumi walked towards him. 'You've saved me countless times now. Don't take the burden of those sins that you never committed Ken. You've done more than enough for me, for us. Now we'll get out of here' he said. 'I want to protect you too Ken, no... big brother' he smiled.

Kenji looked at him and smiled, 'I can't even remember when the last time you called me big brother was.'

'Don't make me take those words back.'

'You can't take them back' Kenji laughed. 'Mom will be happy to see us together again little brother'

'Yeah. She will' Izumi smiled.

Their escape from the island was finally in front of them. Little Amy was a miracle born in this god forsaken place called Helios. Eric wanted was to raise her in a good place, away from this darkness. In reality, that was not possible. Once you enter the darkness, it will always stay beside you.

Kenji and Izumi helped Jeff and Rob with the preparations. They talked things out that they had been holding in. Their world was different. And that truth will always be around. All the communication was blocked from the outside world, so Adam won't realize it soon that his so called annihilators had been annihilated. But when he doesn't get any report from them, he'll send someone dangerous to deal with the situation.

So without any delay they decided to leave as quickly as possible. 'How many people can these single chopper carry?' Kenji asked.

'8 in total including pilots' Rob said.

'How much time till Adam realizes that his killing team has been completely wiped out?' Izumi asked.

'After we killed you and took Eric with us, I'd say, we have less than 12 hours. If he doesn't hear from us in that period of time, then he'd send him' Rob said.
