- Radio Buzzing

'Complete reports have just come in and states about the number of causalities around the globe. The number itself, is a form of terror. Nothing but blood and bodies are lying wherever your vision reaches. Nothing like this has ever happened in the history of mankind after the disastrous Black Death. The Black Death was one of the most devastating pandemics in human history, resulting in the deaths of an estimated 75 to 200 million people and peaking in Europe in the years 1346–53. This is beyond that. What we are seeing here have reached the casualty of more than 500 million people throughout the world. They are calling it Pan'demon'ium. The biggest disaster in the history of mankind. There have also been reports of the same occurrence 10 years ago killing 7.8 million and more 703,012 missing which later rose to more than 900,000. This is clear to say that...' The voice coming from the radio buzzed for a couple of seconds before fading into nothingness. The door to Adam's room slowly opened.

He looked back, smiled and motioned towards his Black Velvet. He poured himself another drink and asked the person standing in front him. He refused.

'Adam. It's been a long time. A really long time indeed' the man standing near the door said. His voice was calm, but intimidating.

'It has been. The scenery outside is just like my Black Velvet. Mesmerizing' Adam said and raised his glass.

'What have you done Adam? You've created nothing but chaos and despair' the man said. 'This is unforgivable' he unhooked his holster.

'Isn't it beautiful though?' Adam smiled. It was vague at first but then his smile widened into fascination. 'The despair and chaos will only last for the time being and what I'm giving them is beyond their imagination' he said and placed his lips on the glass. He slowly took one sip and another.

'And what is it that you gave them in return? Only death!' The man took one step forward.

'Oh dear' Adam chuckled. 'Humans have always been selfish and narrow minded. Even when by some miracle someone is blessed with an extraordinary ability, that person is either used for all the selfish experiment or looked down at. That person simply becomes an object for others. Even if everyone admires or gets amazed by that person's ability, deep inside everyone will think "why not me? I want that ability too" isn't it? ' he said and looked down at his empty glass. He refilled it. 'Are you sure you don't want it?' Adam asked again. He shook once, 'suit yourself' he said and poured the black velvet and rolled two cubes of ice.

'Didn't you do the same thing? Torturing everyone for your selfish reasons. Making them go through pain, killing them. For what? For this virus you created? To make this world suffer? To plunge this world into darkness?' the man clenched his fist. 'We humans are selfish. That's true. We will desire to have an ability we see in other people. But we aren't monsters. We don't kill them nor feel inferior to them. We work hard to fulfil the desires we dream of.'

'Didn't I tell you just now?' Adam looked outside the window and spread his arms, like he is welcoming someone. Or something. 'Look outside. A small sacrifice like this is nothing for the greater gift I'm granting humanity. If I was selfish I wouldn't have done this. I shared something great with everyone' Adam said and glanced over his shoulder at the man standing near the door.

'You're a monster no matter how you see it. A small sacrifice you say? Killing innocent and so many people is a small sacrifice to you?' the man's voice rose.

Adam interrupted him. 'Let me tell you something' he paused for a second. 'This is not something I desire but the entire humanity does. And when one person gets that something, everyone despises that person and distance themselves away. Because deep inside they desire it and can't stand in front of someone special who has it' he paused. 'Confusing I know, but this is how it plays inside my head.'
