"Alissa, where on earth have you been?" My dad asked.
"We've been worried sick!" My mom all but cried.
"You're in so much trouble young lady" My dad said next.
"You two, calm it" A familiar voice came and I turned to see my older brother, Matt, standing there. He was 24 and I hardly ever saw him anymore, since we were moving a lot.
I ran at him and threw myself into his arms.
"Hey kiddo, I missed ya" He said.
"I missed you too Matty" I whispered.
"Come on, we've got a lot to catch up on. Mom, you've got dinner to worry about and Pops, I know you're busy. Leave her to me" He said, the two of us walking up to the upstairs living room. I flopped on the couch, so close to tears.
"What's going on?" He asked.
"You want the whole story?" I asked and he nodded, me laughing.
"You're in for a long one then." I laughed, telling him the entire story, from the first day and not swapping seats with Zane to just before with detention, leaving out the probable spraining of my wrist. I mean, I hate Zane don't get me wrong. But even I wouldn't wish my brother's revenge on him.
"So you got detention today? They're totally not going to believe that" Matt laughed, meaning our parents and I shrugged.
"Well it happened. And I tutored one of 'The Boys' as well" I said.
"So they're all like 17 and run the school, even the teachers?" He asked and I nodded.
"Yeah and the head one lives right next door" I said and he laughed.
"No fucking way, you're telling them to shove it and that's what's making you the talk of the school?" He asked, still laughing.
"Shut up! It's true!" I said, throwing a cushion at him.
"Al, you've been background girl since you were born. You'd never tread on toes, never complain and now you're telling me that you're the talk of the school for telling them to go fuck themselves?" He asked and I nodded.
"Completely out of character for anyone out of school that knows me. But for the school, it's the only impression they have on me" I said.
"Are you scared?" He asked.
"Of course I am! I have no idea what they're going to plot next." I said and he raised his eyebrows.
"Would I be wrong in assuming you're also excited?" He asked and I hung my head, annoyed that my brother could in fact see right through me.
"I thought a new start would be making a name for myself sure, but not like this" I said and Matt shrugged.
"I for one, am proud of my baby sister finally standing up for herself. Lets go tell mom you got detention" He said and I lunged at him.
"No! No, they can't know. It was a warning and a mistake. No need for them to know" I said and he shrugged.
"I thought the new Al didn't give a shit?" He asked and I sighed.
"Fine, tell them. See if I care" I said and he grinned.
"I'm just messing with ya kiddo" He said, standing and walking back downstairs. I sighed and relaxed, wincing as my arm hit the arm of the couch.
"Fuck you Zane" I whispered to no one in particular, walking into my room and examining my arm further.
It was definitely swollen and bruised. Not to mention it hurt putting pressure on it. Lucky for me it was my left arm so I'd still be able to write in class, being right handed. Gym should be interesting though.
