ALISSA:
With the New Year came a new semester and what would be our last semester as high school students.
Which meant that there was the stress of school itself but then there was the added stress of things like Prom, Finals, SAT's and Graduation. Not to mention the idea of applying for college and moving away from loved ones.
I knew that I would deal fine with this stress. This is the semester I have waited for since middle school and I was more excited that it was here than anyone around.
What I was afraid of was the others. Mainly Todd and Zane. I know that they've had a rough senior year so far and I was actually worried about what this semester's effect will be on them.
But as we walked into the school building that first day back, it seemed nothing that happened last year was going to faze us because they all had this strong look about them. And not the asshole look I first saw of them. It was a proud and determined look like they knew they were almost done with high school but were still gonna give it their all.
Which excites me greatly.
We went and sat in homeroom and despite our teacher removing the seating plan, we still sat with me between Zane and Heath. And Zane was quick to start off with gossip, something he almost always brought to homeroom.
"So Gabbie text me over the break and tried to get back with me. Apparently Kam left town and no one knows what happened to him so I'm just the rebound" Zane said with a shrug. I felt Heath's hand on my thigh, confirming what we both already were thinking.
Only Scott, Heath and I know what happened on Christmas and why Kameron was gone and it was going to stay that way.
"I hope you shut her down, you don't need her in your life." I said and Zane nodded.
"I thought it would be harder than it was but it was actually really fucking easy." He said with a smile. Heath and I smiled along with him.
"Maybe there won't be any major dramas this time around" Heath said and I laughed.
"I'm still around, anything could happen. But yes, let's hope nothing does" I said and he smiled, shoving me slightly.
"You're a magnet for something, that's for sure. But you keep things interesting" He said.
"Alright lovebirds, keep it at a minimum. I don't want to see any of this shit" Zane joked.
"Since when have I listened to you?" Heath joked back, leaning in and kissing my cheek. I simply rolled my eyes, my smile taking over my face.
"Never thought we'd all be buddy-buddy like this huh?" Zane asked and I shook my head.
"Never in a million years" I said just as the bell rang for first period.
"Here we go again" Heath said as we packed up our bags.
"Everything will be okay this time around" I promised, leaning in and kissing his cheek one more time as we split and I headed for Chemistry.
I walked straight in and sat next to Elton, David now choosing to sit with Liza seeing as she was no longer acting. She was still a cheerleader but her and Kristen no longer hang with Gabbie. Matter of fact, Gabbie was kicked off the squad and Liza was named new captain in her place. Everyone knows she's a genius now but she enjoys cheerleading too so she does both.
"Hey" Elton said as I sat down.
"Hi, I promise for a less dramatic semester this year" I opened with and he began to chuckle.
"Yeah, I doubt it. Drama sticks to you like iron to a magnet Alissa Holt" He said and we both began to laugh.
"Well hopefully not this time. I'm sick of the drama." I said and he nodded.
"Things got pretty crazy last year" He said and I nodded.
"And you don't even know the half of it" I said and he smiled.
"Thankfully. I'd hate to know half of what happened behind the scenes." He said and I laughed too.
"Yes you would. I hate knowing it. But not this time, I'm standing firm on that. There's no more secrets, no one to mess everything up so nothing should be going wrong." I said, trying to assure myself more than anyone. Elton flashed me his grin and nodded.
"Let's hope so, for your sanity's sake." He joked as I rolled my eyes. We couldn't talk too much after that because our teacher had walked in and began teaching.
Once the lesson was underway and everyone had inevitable began to talk, I leaned to Elton.
"So are you actually going to sit with us at lunch this semester?" I asked and he chuckled quietly.
"Yeah, cause that went so well last time" He said, me rolling my eyes.
"Nothing is going to happen this time, I think last time proved I can make sure of that" I said and he looked at me.
"Alissa, last time I sat with you guys you got into a fist fight with Todd Smith." He recounted and I shrugged.
"And I kicked his ass. Look, sit with us. Todd is not going to give you any shit, I promise" I said and he sighed with a nod.
"Fine, I'll try it out." He agreed and I cheered as Mr Johnson got the class back under control.
Once the bell rang, Elton and I parted ways as we were in different study hall classes.
And no surprises who was in mine?
Todd and Scott.
Which was good because I wanted to speak to Todd about Elton.
I came and sat down in between the two of them.
That had become my norm, sitting between whatever two boys were in my class. They preferred it for my protection but we all knew that most of the student body were now scared of me as well as them.
"I can't believe I have one more semester left of high school." Todd said, shaking his head.
"Well hopefully nothing comes along to fuck everything up. My mom and I finally got to a good place" Scott said.
"Elton's going to sit with us at lunch today." I put in, waiting for Todd's objection.
He simply sighed.
"Let's hope that doesn't end the same as last time, huh Holt?" He joked and I found myself beginning to laugh.
"I'm pretty sure it's on you if it does. I recall winning the fight last time." I joked back and he rolled his eyes, shoving me.
"I'll be nice to the nerd, promise." He said.
"Well don't call him nerd for one, and thank you" I said, honestly meaning it.
"No problems Holt" Todd said back. The look in his eyes said he meant it too.
Maybe this semester will be the best one yet?
Short AF update, filler chapter and beginning of the new semester. This one is going to fly by with only a little more drama. AND THEN THE SEQUEL
