Kousei's pov

It had been one year since kaori's death, and I swear, that year was one of the dullest and most hellish years of my life. To this very day, I am still hung up over it, not as much as I was because of Tsubaki's and Watari's help, but still I felt a suffering feeling in the pit of my stomach. But I still had my piano, one of the things that keeps me sane. If the person I'd lost was someone else, I would have stopped playing, but for Kaori, I am still going strong. If you look at it, it's my connection with Kaori between the barriers of life and death.

But today was the day me, Tsubaki, and Watari, go to Towa hall to watch the annual violin competition, the very one we saw the day I met Kaori. I was rather hesitant to go, but I would for Kaori, for god's sake, I'd do anything for Kaori. As me and my friends pile into our seats the lights start to dim. We made it just on time, good. I feel a slight tap on my shoulder and look over to my right. I see a girl with (h/l) (h/c) hair and (s/c) skin, she has a large grin presented on her lips.

"Hey, sorry to bother you before the show, but are these seats taken? Me and my friends came in late and can't find a place to sit." I look behind her to see a two tall males, one with black hair and another with a bleach blonde tone, almost white.

"Uh, no, they're all yours." I give the trio a small smile myself to return the kindness the girl had given to me.

"Really? Thanks." The girl takes the seat next to me and the other two males follow the seats next to her, the blonde closest to her.

I turn my head to focus on the performance and get pulled in by the music ever violinist plays, receiving flashbacks from me and Kaori's first performance.

The performance was coming to a close and Watari had, unsurprisingly, fell asleep, while Tsubaki looked like a zombie. I feel the seats next to me shift as the second to last performer takes the stage. I look up to see the girl from earlier get up and walk out with her two friends. She seemed filled with determination. (If you got that reference, I love you.)

I had grown a look of confusion in my face and I guess Tsubaki noticed because she asked, "Hey, Kousei, why the long face, you seem kind of infatuated with something, is something the matter?" I turn my attention towards Tsubaki and simply shake my head. She looked confused herself but merely shrugged her shoulders and continued to watch the performances.

Me, Tsubaki, and Watari exit the auditorium and make our way to the result board. Even if we didn't come to watch anyone in particular, the results always made me curious. I checked over the results board and saw nothing I didn't see coming already. The winners were obvious to me, I don't know why but they just were, it must be the musician in me. As we were exiting Towa hall, I saw a small stage set up in the park where I met Kaori, the same bright colored cherry blossom trees swaying in the wind. Up there I saw a sight I didn't expect to see, the trio I had met back in the auditorium. Unconsciously, all three of us had stopped to watch them, curious as to what they were doing. The tall black haired male had set himself up at a large amount of keyboards and the blonde at a small drum kit. The (h/c) haired female pulled out an electric blue violin and stationed herself at a chair in between the other two musicians she begins to tap her foot and the percussionist picked up on the tempo of which she had wished to play and continued by giving the others a count off. What I had begun to listen to was something I had never imagined hearing I my entire life.

(I do not own this song, but if you want to listen, look up Swag by Lindsey Stirling or click the video at the top)

I had sat there wide eyed, as did the others. The music that they played was filled with passion and hard work. These components had me sucked into what felt like a whole other realm. Once the song had ended, there was silence, and I looked around to see basically the entire Towa hall watching, yes, even the judges. Suddenly, a round of applause a erupted near by. I gaze over to my left and saw Tsubaki on her feet, giving the applause of her life, and soon everyone joined. The girl gave a wide close eyed grin and the two others allowed prideful, smug looking smirks to rise to their lips. It felt a spark of color was sitting in front of me in my large pool of darkness. My eyes wander slightly right of the stage and look over a sign that read "The Rogue Violinist".

(I am putting my original story on hiatus until I finish this one. I don't know exactly how long it will be but I have a good amount of storyline I want to add, so it won't be ending anytime soon. I do hope you enjoyed the first chapter, there aren't many Your Lie in April fanfics and I think we should shed a bit more light on the wonderful story. Also, I don't own the YLIA story or characters, or you for that matter.)
