Kousei's pov

I sat at the piano, playing a small warm up tune, desperately wanting to see (y/n). I sent her the picture of us getting first place in the prelims, but she never responded. I felt uneasy since she left Towa Hall yesterday night, I hated seeing her in pain or uncomfortable at all. I wish I could see her, I want to make sure she feels well.

"KOUSEI!!"

I fell off of the piano bench when the window next to me slammed open. I looked up after adjusting my glasses and saw Tsubaki. "Kousei I just had this brilliant idea. We should go surprise (y/n), you know, me, you, and Watari should bring her a dessert of sorts and celebrate that you two got first place, what do you think?" I looked at her surprised. "That, actually is a good idea, I'll call Watari right now then." I was about to pull out my phone but Tsubaki interrupted me. "No need, Watari is already on his way with a cake, why don't you just come over here and we'll wait for him."

I nodded my head and got up from the ground, brushing myself off from dust or dirt. I walked into my bedroom and grabbed a jacket and a pair of shoes before slipping them on. I went down the hallway and realized I was really elated to see (y/n) again, I missed everything about her, her smile, her music, and most of all, the beautifully positive aura that surrounds her. I walk out the front door and shut it behind me. I cross over to Tsubaki's house, fighting a shit eating grin that was trying to surface onto my face.

I knocked on Tsubaki's front door, feeling a bit of nerves deep in my stomach, everything in my soul was excited, so excited that I felt nervous. Tsubaki opened the door and was about to speak but was interrupted by a distant voice. "Tsubaki, Kousei!!! Hey!!" We both snapped in the direction of the voice. "Watari, hey!!" Tsubaki called over, waving at a tired looking Watari, who was running with a chocolate cake in his right hand. "Well, now that we are all here, I'll grab my shoes and lead the way to her house." Tsubaki quickly slipped on her shoes and I took the cake from Watari to give him a break from holding it, and we went on our way to (y/n)'s house.

-le time skip to your house-

We were able to reach (Y/n)'s house in about twenty minutes, and we stood in front of her door, all of us, nervous. "Hey, Kousei, you should knock, after all, you are her boyfriend are you not?" Watari said, mostly teasing me, but also just trying to get me to knock because we were all to frozen to do so. "A-Alright." I handed Watari the cake and stepped forward to the door, knocking a couple of times. We heard distant footsteps come from the other side of the door.

When the it creaked open, I was about ready to jump into a hug with (y/n), but who opened the door, wasn't (Y/n). "Oh, uh, Miss Caroline, it's good to see you." Tsubaki said with a bright smile. "Oh Tsubaki, it's been quite some time since I've seen you dear, how have you been?" Miss Caroline said, looking awfully tired. "Great. But uh, Miss Caroline, we were wondering if we could visit (y/n), do you mind letting us see her?" Tsubaki spoke, with a bigger smile on her face than usual, obviously excited to see (y/n).

Suddenly, Miss Caroline started to tear up, she slapped her hand over her mouth, trying to muffle a sob. Being unsuccessful, she fell to her knees, and started to sob, harder and harder over time. Tsubaki ran to Miss Caroline's side and put a comforting hand on her shoulder. "M-Miss Caroline, what's wrong?" Tsubaki said, speaking for all of our thoughts. "(Y-Y/n) hasn't been home since the night of the competition." What, why, how. All of these questions ran through my head and I couldn't focus on the situation. But even though I was zoned out, I still could feel both Tsubaki and Watari tense up. "Miss Caroline, what are you talking about?" Tsubaki said, continuing to speak for all of us.

"(Y-Y/n) came back from the competition drained and out of it. She told me she was going to bed, and was going up the stairs, but ended up passing out, and feel back down the stairs. When I came to see if everything was okay, the sight was inhuman. Her entire body was in an unusual position, and her head was bleeding. She's been in the hospital since." I could move, my entire body crumbled to the floor, I felt tears flood from my eyes. This couldn't be true, it's just not possible, I was in utter denial.

"What hospital is she in?" Watari asked in an immediate response. "Nagoya Daiichi Hospital." I forced myself off of the ground and began sprinting off, knowing exactly where it was. "Thank you Miss Caroline, we are going to see her now. I hope you don't take this too hard." Tsubaki said before sprinting after me and Watari. You better be okay (Y/n).

-le time skip to hospital-

We ran into the hospital at full speed, welcoming the dull colors that it has to offer. We went straight to the front desk in all of our sweaty glory. "Excuse us, do you know where we could find (Y/f/n) (Y/l/n)?" Tsubaki asked, but mostly yelled. "O-Oh, uhm, yes, are you family?" The receptionist asked, questionably. "Oh, yes, we are her cousins." Tsubaki said, lying through her teeth. "Oh, ok, she's in room, uhm, yes, 222"

"Ok, thank you."

We all ran up the stairs, expecting that the elevator would take too long, and went down the corridor that said 'rooms 200-270'. It took us a couple of minutes, but we eventually found room 222. We all stopped, panting, taking a couple of seconds to collect ourselves. When I looked up to the sign with the room number on it, I saw the name on it and still didn't want to believe it. '(y/f/n) (y/l/n)'.

"Come on guys, let's go in." I said knocking on the door. "Come in!" I heard a peppy voice say on the other side of the door. I took a deep breath and opened the door. "U-Uh, (y-y)?" I saw her head snap up, and I was able to take in her features. Her eye patch was still in place, but her head was thickly wrapped up, but I could see a small bit of blood seep through. "Kousei, Tsubaki, Watari, what are you guys doing here?" (Y/n) said, with a high amount of confusion. "We heard you were in the hospital, but didn't want to believe it." (Y/n) sighed and hung her head down. "I didn't want to you to know, but I guess my aunt let the cat out of the bag, hmm?"

I felt my entire heart tear apart, my soul sink into a depressed state, and my spirits lower into the depths of hell. My eyes flooded with tears, and I had to force myself to suck it up and hide it. "I think we should give these two a minute, come on."Tsubaki said, referring to Watari. I saw him nod, and they walked out. "Hey, I never did see you text me the results, I haven't had my phone on me since, so how'd we do?"

"First place."

"I didn't expect anything less from us."

A moment of silence engulfed us and I could see the pain in her eyes.

"Kousei?"

"Yes?"

"I've been meaning to tell you something." She took a breath, which sounded like she was trying to brace herself. She bit her lip, trying to hold back what looked like a sob. "I-I.. don't think we should be together anymore."

(I am glad I was able to get a chapter out today.)
