Kousei's pov

It had been a couple of weeks since the whole café incident with (y/n), and, I haven't seen her since. She hasn't shown up at school and hasn't answered any of Tsubaki's and Hiroko's calls and or texts, and we haven't heard anything from Katsu or Nori, even though none of us have really got to know either of them. And I have now grown worried, so has everyone else.

"Hey, Kousei, have you heard anything about (y/n) since yesterday?" Tsubaki asked as she peeked into the music room. "No." I said as I looked up from me and (y/n)'s piece. When I made eye contact with Tsubaki, I saw her lip start to quiver, and she collapsed to the floor in tears. My eyes widened in shock, I haven't Tsubaki this torn up since Kaori's death. "S-She has been g-gone for days....why won't she talk to me, I'm afraid that she is a-avoiding me." Tsubaki says, stuttering every once in awhile, trying to speak through her sobs. But being the idiot I am, I didn't how to comfort her, instead, I started to tear up myself. What happened to her, it's like she just disappeared off the face of the planet.

"GUYS!!" Suddenly, Watari busted into the music room with a face covered in sweat and a shocked expression. "Come with me, there is something you should see." Watari began running out of the room, so I grabbed Tsubaki's hand, helped her up, and started running to catch up to Watari. When he stopped, we had reached the soccer field, and he pointed his finger, I let my gaze follow his pointed finger, and I felt my heart melt. He was pointing at a small wooden bench, and there sat a girl with (h/l) (h/c) hair and bright (e/c) eyes, sketching a small black cat in a note book. (y/n).

"(YYY/NNN)!" Tsubaki yelled with tears still running down her face, but when (y/n) had caught ear of Tsubaki's yelling, she snapped her head towards us, and we all froze. She had a black eye patch over her eye. "Oh, uhm, hey guys." She said with her usual peppy smile. But something was different, and it wasn't just the eye patch. Her eyes, or eye, was highly dull, and her smile, seemed so fake. "(y-y/n), what happened to your eye?"  Watari asked, being the first to speak up.  "Oh, that, well, on the way home from a practice with Kousei, I tripped and slammed my head into a bike rack and got myself a black eye. Hehe, it's really embarrassing how klutzy I am."

She was lying, clearing, I have seen that expression before. When Kaori lied to us about her health. Not only that, but her laugh was full of nerves, I've heard it many times backstage of many competitions. "OH MY GOD, (Y/N) IS YOUR BEAUTIFUL FACE OKAY!?" Watari yelled, holding (y/n) by the shoulders. "Beautiful face? Geez Watari, I didn't know you were blind." (Y/n) said laughing. "Come on (y/n), don't put yourself down like that, I'm sure any guy would agree you're great looking." Tsubaki said. "I know I do!" Watari said with overflowing enthusiasm. "Hehe, wow, it's such a relief to see you guys again. Katsu was in protective father mode and wouldn't let me leave the house until my eye healed up a bit." Lies, she's lying again. "(Y/n), are you sure you're okay?" I asked, in slight suspicion. She had her back to me and answered. "Yup." She said, blatantly.

"But enough about me, Arima, how's the piece going so far. I know I practiced the hell out of it, how about you?" She asked with a smile. It's fake, so fake. "Yeah, I have too." I said. "Well that's reassuring, at least we'll be prepared for the competition next week." She said, but my soul still felt shallow.

-le time skip to after school-

I was walking home from school, down the usual cherry blossom tree covered path I always took home, with my heart still vacant. When I turned the corner by the soccer field, aka the place Kaori was when I met up with her for the second time, and there, stood (y/n). I felt the vacancy in my heart deepen when her empty eyes met mine. "Oh, sup Arima?" She questioned. "Not much, you?" I asked, feeling the vacancy in my heart come out through my voice. "Not much either." She paused for a moment. "Kousei, is something wrong?" She finished. I looked up at her, feeling myself tear up a bit. "Why did you lie, about your eye?" She looked at me slightly shocked. "Kousei, I wasn't lying." After she said that, a tear ran down my cheek. How could someone like her, someone I barely know, make me feel like this. "Kousei?" She asked with concern in her voice.

How could I never realize until now? Hiroko practically told me to my face. Everytime she's around, how did I not notice?

I'm in love with (y/n)
