Kousei's POV

I held onto (y/n) for dear life, not wanting to let go, feeling like if I did she would disappear.  Suddenly, she started to laugh, and I felt my heart drop, almost embarrassed.

"I can't just leave you know, I'm on tour, and I have a performance tonight, if I went home now, all the people who got tickets, they would be so disappointed. You know me, Kousei, I can't let a crowd down, wherever there is a spotlight, I'm there." She paused for a moment. "I worked to hard for this, after everything that has happened to me, this tour isn't just a way to share my music of get publicity, it's to tell my story, so it won't be forgotten, even when my walk on this earth ends."

Her words were so heartfelt, I knew I couldn't rip away this dream she was living. She worked too hard to get here, I have no right to force her home. Besides, even if I tried, I can't stop a free spirit like hers.

"How about a compromise, I'll go back and say hi to everyone once my Tokyo show comes up, which actually happens to be the next one, after my Los Angeles show of course. Wait, hold on a second."  Her breath hitched in her throat. "How did you get here in the first place?" She said, more growling.

"I spent almost all of the money I won from competitions as a kid." I said, rubbing the back of my neck.

"You idiot, well guess what." She spoke sternly.

"Huh?" I said, tilting my head.

"You're going to stay in California until my show is over, the you're taking the private jet back with me. Your half of the offer is you are going to watch me perform, tonight." She said, pointing at me with a bright smile.

"Wait, you have a private jet!?" I screeched.

"Well, it's not really mine, it's the recording company's, but they use it for world tours, and I so happen to be lucky enough to use it. And with that, you are going to get your money back and ride with us, cool?" She asked, with childlike innocence.

"You're weird." I stated bluntly.

"Says the guy who came from Japan and went all of the way to Los Angeles just to see me." She laughed.

She, out of nowhere, just jumped on top of my, bringing me into a tight embrace. "You really aren't afraid of or mad at me because of that night?" She said, her voice cracking as she started to cry.

"Never." I said, holding onto her tighter. "If anything, I'm grateful, if it weren't for you, I'd be dead. You didn't kill out of malice, it was self-defense, I'm sorry." I said kissing her forehead.

"Thank you, thank you so much, you don't know what hell I'd be going through if it weren't for you." (y/n) sobbed, gripping tighter, if possible. Fortunately for me, she let go, so I didn't actually die, and smiled.

"Let's head to the venue, the show is in two hours, I need to start getting ready." She grabbed my hand and ran, at an impressive speed at that.

-time skip-

"Welp, this is it." (y/n) said turning around to me. I looked at her, she was wearing a steampunk like short dress, with a hat decorated with goggles. "I'm on, wish me luck." She whispered.

"I'm pretty sure you don't need it, you're different then most you know. You don't just play it, you live it, it's hard to go that, but you don't let it oppose any challenge, so let your music live that way you do." I hugged her tight. "I believe the right words are, have fun."

"Haha, will do, see ya." She ran to the back of the stage where she would do her little 'before show ritual' as she called it.

The entire time I was watching her, nothing but her, and her performance was flawless, but something was off. It's not what you think it would be, her spirits were free, every note was perfect, the tempo and dynamics were beyond amazing, but she, she physically looked pained. (y/n), what's wrong.

-time skip-

"KOUSEI!!" (y/n) yelled, grabbing me out of the trance of her performance. "COME HERE, IT'S TIME FOR THE AFTER SHOW GROUP HUG!!" She yelled childishly.

I laughed as I walked up to the band and stage managers, and (y/n) pulled me directly into the hug. When we all retracted, (y/n) laughed giddily and she pulled me aside.

"Hey, why don't you join me, Katsu, and Nori for dinner huh?" She asked, still giggling from the exhilaration of the show.

"Sure." I said, taking her up on her kind offer, but I felt indifferent, since (y/n) still felt like she was faking her happy demeanor.

-time skip-

"Kemps!!" (y/n) screamed as she saw me give her the signal. I slammed my hand of cards down onto the table and we high fived. "Yes, we win again."

"You guys are impeccable, but then again, no matter what it is, (y/n) wins at every game." Nori said laughing as Katsu sighed in agreement.

"You got that right." (y/n) yelled, pumping her fist in the air. She suddenly started panting, and fanning herself with a napkin. "Wow, would it kill them to turn the AC on, jeez."

(y/n) suddenly got out of her seat. "I'm going to go outside for a moment, to cool off, anyone care to join me?"

"It's fine, go on ahead, we'll stay back and order." Katsu answered for us.

"Kay, I'll be right back then." (y/n) said before running off and out of the door.

-time skip-

"(y/n)'s been outside for a while now, Kousei, I feel it's right if you went to check up on her." Nori suggested.

"Right." I said, briskly getting up from my seat and rushing out of the restaurant.

When I walked through the door, she wasn't there, so I began to call out for her. "(y/n)! (y/n)!" I yelled repeatedly.

I looked around, concern growing by the minute, because I still couldn't find her.

I ventured a little toward the woods near the left side of the restaurant. I was walking closer and closer, but tripped over a stone. I landed flat on my face, directly in front of a small black kitten.

"Where did you come from?" I wondered out loud. It looked hurt, but ran off anyway, then it stopped for a moment, looking back at me, waiting for me. I just followed it out of instinct, but it just lead me to a ditch and stopped.

"What?" I questioned the cat as it just stared at the ditch.

I looked into the dip in the ground, but before I could process anything, my hand went straight  up to my mouth.

There, in the ditch, was a passed out (y/n), covered in her own blood, and bruises from head to toe.

"Why, all you ever wanted to do was perform, yet it never brings you any good." I said, pulling her out.

I held her unconscious body close to me, I called and ambulance immediately, but after that I couldn't hold back anymore.

I started to sob, pulling her closer to me. Her shallow breaths pain me, and her faint heartbeat made my pent up emotions unravel. Everytime we perform, our lives fall apart, we can never have a single peaceful moment in our lives, without it a moment of terror coming back to destroy us. She suffers, I can't help her, I want to know what she's going through, I want her to talk to me, but she hides behind her music, her fake happiness. I just want her to live a happy life, but where I am.....

I can't change anything......

She has nearly died......

And all I can do is watch....
