Chapter 1 First Introductions

I woke up and got on some basketball shorts and a t shirt it was a warm day and thankfully a Saturday. After I made my way out the front door I got into the nearest elevator and arrived at the main floor. I walked out the front door and made my way to Central Park. I guess I was lucky today because I made it there without much of a wait on traffic. When I arrived I started my usual jog but about halfway through my jog it felt like something was pulling me towards away. I couldn't figure out what it was so I kept on jogging until I felt the pull yet again, I ignored it and continued with my jog. The third time I decided to rest so I started off towards the nearest pond and sat looking out into the water.

I had a sudden vision flash through my mind New York City was on fire and there were creatures flying through the sky that looked like giant lizards with wings. The vision disappeared and I looked to the sky then back towards the water and saw an egg that was about the size of a pineapple maybe bigger. It was a bright white color. I looked at it for a minute before picking it up unsure what it could belong to. I decided it would be best to take it home with me I held on to the egg and took it home making sure not to drop it or even let it slip out of my grasp.

When I was finally back in my families apartment I snuck to my room I was the oldest child my little and only sister was 11 and her hair was black like mine and her eyes were a milky brown compared to my blue ones. Her name was Mickayla. She was watching TV and as I was about to step into my room she turned to me and asked with a curious expresion, "Whats that Jacob?" "Whats what?" I asked as I slipped the egg behind my back. "The thing you just put behind your back silly," she said giggling. I sighed in defeat and signalled for her to follow me into my room.

When the door was closed behind her I set the egg on my pillow and looked at it still trying to figure out what animal it belonged to. "What is it?" she asked with a curious look on her face."It's an egg I think," I told her with doubt in my voice. Mickayla looked at it for a bit before shrugging and leaving. I observed the egg for a bit before I heard my mom call dinner. I quickly hid the egg and made my way out of my room for dinner.

That night luckily Mickayla hadn't said anything about me finding the egg. I lied in my bed for a bit before falling asleep.

I was in the air looking at the ruined city below fire was everywhere not a single building was left standing. A giant lizard was roaming the ground looking for something, what I couldn't tell. I saw movement so I followed it and I found poor Mickayla hiding in the ruins of a building. I heard a roar and it sounded close I saw the beast face to face it lunged at Mickayla and she screamed I woke with a start.

I was gasping for air I calmed myself down and quickly found the egg it was still it's snow white color calming me. I must have fallen asleep with it in my hands because I woke up with it in my arms. I enjoyed the warmth it gave off but I quickly hid it in my closet. I walked out of my room and got some breakfast and thought about what could be in the egg. I had finished my cereal and I decided to go for a walk. As I was about to go out the front door my mother called to me, "Jacob take your sister with you she needs to go out for a bit shes been in the apartment all weekend." I sighed and nodded, "Okay I'll take her with me."

We had left the building and we were walking towards the park Mickayla was in a good mood today which I was thankful for. When we arrived at the park Mickayla dragged me around the park for a bit before my phone went off. "Hello this is Jacob speaking," I said quickly. "Hey Jacob its Ryan I was just wondering if you wanted to come over for a bit," he sounded like he had been given a lot of sugar...again. "Sorry can't I have to watch my little sister," I said in reply trying not to laugh at how hyper he was. "Alright I'll see you tomorrow I guess," he replied sounding kinda sad. He hung up and I looked over at Mickayla who was picking flowers.

After a day of picking flowers and other shenanigans Mickayla was exhausted and I myself was a little tired as well. I had to give Mickayla a piggyback ride home because she was to tired to walk. When I arrived at the building I walked in and a few people commented on how cute she was when she sleeps. I stepped in the elevator and pushed our floor number I waited in silence for the doors to open I walked out and made my way to the door. I opened it with a little difficulty but succeeded eventually. After checking the time and finding it was around ten. I layed her on the couch and went to my room to check on the mysterious egg. I was holding the egg as I lied in my bed its warmth was calming and I fell asleep with it in my arms.

I awoke to a cracking sound and saw that the egg was hatching I quickly and carefully set down the egg I locked my door and went back to the egg and watched as it cracked and soon a lizard with wings was looking at me. It had dark purple eyes and white scales. I didn't freak out I just stayed calm and watched it with interest. "Are you a boy or a girl?" I asked to myself. "I'm a girl," she replied. "You can talk," I said surprised. "Yes and I can also talk to you through our minds but we'll worry about that later," she said calmly making herself comfortable. "What are you anyways?" I said as I looked at her wings. "I am a dragon," as she said this her eyes stared at me.

"Do you have a name?" I asked with wonder. She thought for a minute before answering "No I don't." "How does Violette sound," I asked her. She nodded as if she was having a conversation with herself she then replied joyfully, "I like it." Her stomach growled and I swiftly got up and went to the kitchen. I grabbed some left over hamburger from the fridge. I heated it up and brought it on a plate to Violette, "Here ya go," I said hoping she would eat it. She took a small nibble and ended up eating the whole thing in a few minutes. I must have fallen back asleep while watching her because I woke to my alarm going off.

I reached forward to turn it off but Violette was already on it she pushed the button. I got up and got dressed putting on some jeans, a t shirt, and my hoody. I went to step out of my door only to remember about Violette. I turned and looked over at her "I have to go to school I need you to stay here and stay hidden my parents would freak if they saw you." She nodded to each word and I knew instantly she understood. So I left her in my room while I got some breakfast and put on my shoes. I was about to leave when I realized that I had left my backpack in my room I ran back and picked it up it felt heavier than usual but I just left for school not even thinking about it.
