Rise of the Dragonbloods

Chapter 24

As if what I was trying to do wasn't hard enough now I had the military trying to catch me and my family as well as the rise of the dragons to stop. I let out a sigh as I kept my head in my hands as we left New York City heading in the direction of Indiana to hide out for a bit. We were just exiting Ohio when there was a sudden explosion outside. My powers were still blocked and I was getting frustrated by this as more explosions began to occur outside. I quickly opened the hidden door leading to the front of the swat car to look out side the car to see we were being followed by two military jets. I cursed under my breath before closing the hatch and walking over to the back doors of the swat car. "Jacob don't go doing something stupid," my mother warned me. I nodded before opening the doors after grabbing a handgun and climbing out. I was on the roof gun aimed at the pilots but before I could get off a shot a missile flew by my head just barely missing Blitz as well. This made me angry I aimed the gun and began to fire off rounds pelting the cockpits with bullets. The jets quickly began to bob and weave avoiding my bullets. I saw a flash of green out of the corner of my eye to see Niko take out the wings on the first jet as Tiffany took out the second. The pilots ejected out of their planes and began their descent back to the ground. I had thrown the gun away and gotten back inside the SWAT truck as bullets started to fly through the air aimed at the truck. Bullets pinged off the truck as they tried to pierce the armored van,"Violette we're taking heavy gunfire I suggest you take out the source before it pierces the armor of the van," I sent hoping she would get the message. "I'm on it hold on," she sent in reply. I let out a sigh and nodded before realizing she couldn't see my nod,"Understood," I sent and lowered myself to the floor of the van. My sister and parents followed suit as they lowered themselves to the ground. The bullets suddenly stopped and I could tell we were lowering to the ground. The pack waited warily for the van to touch ground as it lowered.

We hit the ground with a bit of a thump and the second the doors opened we all got out to find Blitz on his side his ring still on sleeping a heavy sleep. "I'll take first watch you guys get some sleep," I said going back into the truck and grabbing the M16 assault rifle that was leaning against the wall. I set it to burst and waited on top of the van listening and watching for the slightest movement or sound. I heard flapping and looked up to see Niko, Tiffany, and Violette coming in for landing. They landed swiftly and with ease not waking anyone as they made their way over to me. Violette quickly claimed her spot on my shoulder, "Good to see your all okay I was beginning to worry," I said turning on the safety of the weapon in my hands. "Why didn't you morph and take out those jets that way?" Niko asked curiously. "Well until later tomorrow my powers are rendered useless thanks to something they've injected into me," I said smoke beginning to billow out of my nose as my anger grew. "Jacob we need you to focus we have dragons to track down tomorrow and we need you clear headed when we do. Your our leader if your not clear headed you could make a stupid decision and put someone in danger," Tiffany said trying to calm me. I sighed and felt my anger disappear as I calmed myself, "Your right I need to stay clear headed and keep it together," we talked for a bit before Niko took over for me so I could get some sleep myself. The second I layed down and closed my eyes I drifted off into sleep.

Before me stood a dragon that was half the size of the building that my families apartment was in. Its wings were folded against its sides as it walked through New York City destroying everything in its path. I morphed and flew at him fire building in my chest I neared the giant dragon. As I got closer I got a better look at him his scales were a pale yellow and each of his claws were about the size of a car and his teeth looked razor sharp as he roared. I closed in on him and looked into his eyes and they seemed to hypnotize me. I couldn't move at all as I drifted towards his bright yellow eyes I closed the gap quickly and no matter how much I resisted I couldn't escape his gaze. He opened his jaws and lunged at me swallowing me in one bite.

I woke with a start as I realized it was only a nightmare or possibly a vision. I shuddered as I stood up the fire had gone out and a very quiet Tiffany was on watch. As I approached her my sense of danger increased and I began to slow down until I came to a stop and looked around to realize everyone was missing except for the person on top of the SWAT car. I took a deep breath and jumped on top of the  roof and approached them warily. "Tiffany is that you?" I asked as I approached. "No it is I the luna of the pack that is now missing an Alpha thanks to you," she said angrily. "Where is everyone?" I asked trying to keep my anger in check. "We took them back to the pack house but I wanted to talk to you in private," she said looking up at the stars in the sky. "Is it true that the rise of the dragons is coming?" she asked sending a chill up my spine. "Yes and it's our duty to take care of it but the thing is my parents and those that left with me need to stay out of it. I'd hate myself if they charged into battle only to be killed by a dragon," I said looking at the cold metal of the SWAT car. "I understand I will allow your parents to stay and allow my son and his friends back into our pack," she said standing up and stretching. "Lets get back to the pack house you can clean up yourself and get a good nights sleep," she said looking at me kindly. I nodded and followed her through the woods to the pack house where my friends had waited for me.

When I entered the house Violette was being stubborn and refused to eat or sleep until she knew I was okay which made me laugh. She looked in the direction of the laugh angrily at first until she realized it had come from me her anger turned to happiness. She quickly flew over to me and hugged me tightly making me smile as she rubbed her head against my neck, "Where am I sleeping?" I asked as Violette settled down and laid down on my shoulder. She seems to zone out for a moment before answering, "I'll have my beta show you to your room," she said as a guy began to us up the stairs. After we reached our room I crashed on the bed with Violette laying in the curve of my stomach I fell asleep.
