Chapter 23 Wanted

I opened my eyes to see my mother leaning against my side I grinned and tried to speak but nothing came out. I cleared my throat and tried again but still nothing came instead I took my tail and poked her she immediately lifted her head and looked over at me smiling. She stepped back so I could change back to her teenage son. When I quickly embraced her in a hug she immediately guessed something was wrong, "Honey whats wrong," she asked me worried. I rubbed my throat and she seemed to understand she burst into tears hugging me. "Oh Jacob I'm so sorry," she said squeezing me tighter. After she let me go we went down the elevator and to our apartment. When we arrived everyone was waiting for me they all looked at me relieved but they all seemed to realize something was wrong when I didn't speak, "Jacobs lost his ability to talk," my mother said bursting into tears again. Violette quickly asked though our link, "Is this true can you really not speak anymore?" I nodded and she quickly flew over and landed on my shoulder rubbing her head against mine, "What about Midnight or Moon do you think they'll be able to help?" Violette asked me curiously. I thought for a moment before nodding I quickly mouthed Midnights name three times and she suddenly appeared her sister at her side. "Whats the problem Jacob?" she asked looking at me then everyone else around the room. It was Niko who spoke, "Hes lost his voice a dragon bit his throat." Moon was nodding before she walked over to me and began feeling my throat, "I think I can heal it just give me a few days to prepare," she said disappearing in a poof of white smoke. "We'll be back when we're ready Jacob just hold on for us," Midnight said before disappearing in a similar way but with black smoke.

I walked to my room exhausted closing it behind me after Violette crawled in and laying on my bed ready for sleep, "Jacob your not going to school until you get your voice back so you don't have to get up tomorrow," my mother said through the door. I closed my eyes and fell asleep wanting the day to end.

It had been a week since I had lost my voice and I was finally getting used to it. I stood in the kitchen getting a pop out of the fridge when Moon and Midnight suddenly appeared scaring me and making me drop my soda, "I have the potion ready," Moon said happily. She handed me a bottle filled with a purple liquid I uncorked the top and drank it. It felt like acid running down my throat but I continued until the bottle was empty. I clutched my throat as the burning sensation intensified, "Jacob it should be over soon you just need to hang on for a bit longer," Midnight said crouching down next to me. I felt my claws grow in and the witches in front of me noticed and quickly midnight paralyzed them so I couldn't hurt myself. The pain continued to intensify and Violette came running into the kitchen on fours and looked at the witches then me, "Whats happening to him?" Violette demanded her hysteria growing. "He drank the potion that's healing his throat as we speak," Moon said trying to calm down Violette. Smoke began to billow out of Violettes nose as she looked at the witches murderously I felt my arms unfreeze and I slowly fighting the pain reached over and picked her up and pulled her close to my chest calming her instantly. "Violette I'll be okay I've been through worse," I sent to her looking into her worried eyes as they watched me closely. "I'm sorry Jacob I just can't stand the thought of them hurting you again after you nearly lost your mind in that cave," Violette sent back her eyes falling to the floor. I put my hand on her chin and brought her eyes to mine and smiled at her as the pain began to subside. My throat began to feel stronger and I smirked as Violette said three words, "I love you," with the pain completely gone I spoke my voice coming out in a whisper, "I love you too." I hugged her tightly in my grip I heard two quick poofs as the witches disappeared leaving us alone in the kitchen. My eyes began to close as Violettes breathing indicated that she was sleeping I eventually followed suit my eyes drifting shut.

"Aw that's just adorable a boy and his dragon," I heard someone say as my eyes opened slowly at first then quickly as a wave of insecurity swept over me. I quickly looked down to see Violette still in my arms my attention quickly turned to the man in front of me who had a handgun already aimed at me. I slowly got up and looked around to see my families apartment in ruins and my father on the ground unconscious with my mother next to him weeping while Blitz sat on my sisters shoulders watching all the men in the room warily. "What do you want?" I managed to say my throat dry and unused. "We came to arrest you for nearly killing multiple civilians in that battle you were involved in with that second gold eyed dragon," he said angrily. "I'll come quietly if you leave my friends and family out of this," I said holding Violette close to me. "We have orders to bring in every last dragon and dragon hybrid," he said with an evil grin. The man reached for Violette and my instincts kicked in I quickly jumped up onto the kitchen counter,"You try and touch her again and you can say goodbye to your hand," I said as smoke began to billow out of my nose. "They warned me you were feisty when it came to her," he said handgun level with my head. I slowly calmed myself making the smoke stop, "I'll say it again leave my friends and family alone and I will go quietly otherwise things are going to get very violent," I warned my eyes flashing red. He didn't seem fazed in fact he had a smug look on his face, "Sadly we have to bring you in with no casualties so while you were sleeping I injected this into your body it lasts for about a day or so," he said with a devilish grin showing me a needle. I tried to use my wings or even my tail to no effect. I quickly set Violette down hopped off the counter before jamming my fist into the mans face with a sickening crack as his nose broke and I was surrounded by multiple men and forced to my knees my hands behind my back. I heard a man scream as Violette who had suddenly woke bit him. Reaching into my back pocket I fished out her ring, "Catch," I said through our link as she jumped off the counter and grabbed the ring in her teeth before turning and breaking through one of the windows before going to warn Niko, Tiffany, and the pack who were thankfully not here. Blitz looked torn between following Violette and staying with my sister but in the end he chose my sister knowing it would be best for her. I was lifted to my feet and led out of the apartment my family behind me.

We took the elevator to the base floor and were taken to two separate SWAT cars my mother and father in one while Mickayla, Blitz, and I were thrown into another. The drive was bumpy and uncomfortable I had handcuffs keeping my hands behind my back. Luckily they trusted Mickayla to not do anything considering how they thought she was just a normal human. Blitz was resting beside her I sighed as I thought of Violette and hoped she was safe, "Jacob I'm sure Violettes fine you know her and so do I she is capable of anything," Mickayla said calmly. I stood up and walked over to her before sitting down next to her, "She messaged me a bit ago shes going to warn the others we've been captured and knowing them their probably going to do something stupid," I whispered reassuringly to her. I felt one of her claws prick my hand as she tried to pick the lock she kept trying and eventually we heard a small click meaning she had picked the lock successfully. The guards watching us didn't seem to notice thankfully as she began to work on the second.

The car suddenly stopped and I could hear wolves howling and an occasional dragon roar. The back doors were suddenly flung open and before me stood the man with a broken nose, "Get out now," he demanded. I looked at Mickayla and she immediately understood to wait as we hopped out with Blitz on Mickaylas shoulder watching warily as guns were pointed in all directions. I looked up to see three dragons circling above us I followed the man into a random building that looked like it used to be a coffee shop until a car had gone through one of the glass windows. We were hunkered down behind one of the counters while the guards were watching the front I made my move. I quickly grabbed the man and had one of my arms across his neck while the other helped to keep it in place. "Don't try anything or I'll kill him," I said as we slowly made our way out of the little shop and over to the car my parents were in.

I had my sister open the doors and saw my father standing triumphantley over the guards with my mother at his side. I let go of the man and jumped into the car with my sister following, "Mickayla give Blitz his ring I have an idea," I said quickly. She nodded and gave Blitz his ring which he slid onto his tail and began to grow into a full sized dragon. "Blitz after I close the doors grab the car and have the others follow if you see the pack set the car down near them so we can pick them up," I said hurriedly as he nodded to each word. I closed the door and heard them lock behind us there was a sudden swaying motion as the SWAT car was picked up and Blitz began to fly off. I could feel our rise in altitude as we flew higher until we suddenly began to drop. We landed with a thump and the door was suddenly unlocked and my inst incs kicked in as I grabbed a gun from the unconscious guard and aimed it at the door. The pack stood before us nearly unharmed except for a few cut and scrapes. I smiled as they helped us throw the unconscious guards out and then sit down as Blitz took off again. I was nervous as we flew away from the city with the others shortly behind us.
