Over the next few weeks we had more Unknowns arrive with the same story over and over again. Each time our response was the same. There was one occasion where I was actually surprised. One of the Enforcer that we'd tried to reach before appeared before us in a wild array of violet smoke.
Her name was Elizabeth. The last I'd seen her, she had her hair cut very short and it was colored very brightly. Now her hair was down her shoulders and blended with pastel rainbow colors. Her pale green eyes flickered between us nervously as the rest of her group filed in. I was shocked to see the neither Sakima nor Taylor were with her. The only other face I recognized, I couldn't put a name to. I did know for a fact that she was a Scout. We worked more directly with Enforcers than Scouts. She had short curly hair and alert hazel eyes. She was a little shorter than the average lady, but if my memory serves me correctly, her size didn't detract from her abilities.
This time Sebastian was the one who spoke first.
"What a surprise to see you all here."
"I hope you have important information to report. We have been trying to reach you for ages," Philomene jumped in not wanting to be outdone. I watched Sebastian roll his eyes.
"We have received no correspondence whatsoever for months now," Elizabeth said slowly.
"Have you been aware of this lapse in communication, Sebastian?" Philomene asked, staring her down like a hawk.
"Can't say I've cared enough to check, so I'll say no," he said. It didn't surprise me at all.
"That one right there is going to cause some trouble," he said pointing.
His finger led to a girl with red hair. She immediate backtracked and her eyes scanned the entire room so quickly, that if I hadn't been watching I would have missed it. Her hair fell down her neck and she had brown eyes that seemed to reflect off the redness. The clothes she wore were extremely form fitting - she was very lean yet shapely. She was just slightly above average height and there was something about her that made you notice her. I could tell she was uncomfortable.
"What about the rest of them?" Philomene asked.
"There's high potential with each of them. The only one that is definitely is her," he said motioning to redhead.
"Alright. What is so important that brings you here?" She continued..
"With all due respect, Philomene there's an awful war going on out there. I'm not sure what's kept you all so out of touch, but it's rather serious. Jake here has been severely injured. The humans have this virus that is killing us off with ease. We're partially here because of that. And we're also here because Myra brought us. I know you're familiar with her," Elizabeth said.
"And where is she?" She asked.
They all shrugged. I looked at Leona, whose facial expression was unreadable. She was likely scanning everyone's minds to see where the girl was. Myra was notorious for her volatility. My eyes travelled to Sebastian who was looking at me. He had one eyebrow arched and he seemed marginally interested now.
"My cousin Jake is dying. Is there anything you can do?" One of them asked.
I started moving to heal the young man, but Philomene put up her hand.
"You don't do anything until we make a vote on it Augustus."
I glared at her. Healing him did not require a vote. He was obviously dying and she knew it. But Philomene wasn't a person that was very forgiving and as soon as I say back down I knew exactly where she was going with this. She wanted to retaliate, even though this man had nothing to do with past events,
