Jason POV
One moment I had been standing next the Supreme as she lay dying and the next I was falling out of thin air. Fortunately, I could use my powers to catch slow myself down, but I still hit the ground roughly.
"Holy. Fuck."
I dusted myself off and looked up to see a dirt covered Jeep a few feet in front of me. If I'd have fallen a few seconds later, I probably would have made impact with them. There were two girls in the Jeep. The one who'd been driving was standing up, using one arm to balance herself as she hung outside of the vehicle. She had red hair and wore a tank top with short shorts. The other girl stayed in the passenger seat, wondering if they needed to prepare for a fight. This girl had light brown curly hair and vivid hazel eyes.
"Where the hell did you come from?" the redhead asked.
She looked familiar. I racked my brain trying to remember until it finally clicked.
"Celeste," I said out loud.
She rolled her eyes. I looked at her intently. Normally at this close of range I could hear someone's thoughts as clear as day. I picked up absolutely nothing from her. Not a single telepathic wave.
My eyes fell on the girl next to her. Instead of silence all I could get was static. Every now and then I'd get a coherent word out of here, but trying to listen made me very dizzy. These girls must have abilities that make them immune or resistant to telepathy. If they turned hostile I'd had to use my telekinesis.
"At this point you knowing my name doesn't even surprise me. I'm assuming you're a friendly or do we need to kill you?" she asked.
Given what I'd just seen I wasn't sure whose side they were even on.
"That depends. Are you with the Supreme? Or Giovanna?"
"Well considering I'm not sure who Giovanna is, I'm going to say that I'm with the Supreme and hope we're on the same team," Celeste responded.
I nodded.
"Good. Hop in the car and come with us. You just fell out of the sky it had to hurt like crazy. Also, get us up to speed on what's up with you too," she said.
I hopped in the back of the jeep.
"So you are an Unknown. What are your abilities? Oh and I am Liliana by the way" the hazel-eyed one said, turning around to face me.
"Telepathy and telekinesis," I answered.
She grinned.
"We are resistant to telepathy. I have the ability to give off power shockwaves through my hands. The voltage makes it difficult for a telepath to get a reading. Celeste here can shape shift into animals. We think telepaths have a hard time with her because she's less human than the average Unknown," she said.
"Makes sense."
"Tell us. Why were you falling out of the sky? What brought you here?" Liliana asked.
For a few moments I had been distracted by their presense but then everything that had just happened came rushing back.
"The Supreme!" I said.
Both of them paused. Celeste's eyes met mine through the rearview mirror.
"What about the Supreme?" she asked.
It would have been much easier to just show them the memories but I doubted it would work if I couldn't even read their minds. Their resistance to telepathy could work both ways: resistant to having their thoughts read and resistant to having thoughts sent to them. I wasn't sure, but I didn't want to waste the time right now.
