"It was you humans that started this war. But it will be us Unknowns that will finish it."
The broadcast ended abruptly and turned to static after that.
"You look like you recognize her," Delaney said.
"Yes. Her name is Celeste. She and her group came to visit us a while ago regarding the virus. It appears like they have been on the move and doing well."
Memories of the time when Celeste came to the Court played through my mind. Her being immune. Me healing Jake. Leona's comment about Myra not being the only one to watch out for.
For some reason my mind lingered when Myra's name popped into my head. There was some faint emotion running through me and I couldn't figure out what it was or why I felt it. I shook my head a little, and noticed Jason staring at me. Then it clicked. He'd been reading my mind, pulling memories and information about what we'd just seen. I didn't feel the tugging feeling that usually signified when he was in my head. His powers had definitely increased. I wasn't sure by how much, but he had fine tuned his telepathy very well.
"So the redhead that just spoke is a shapeshifter. Celeste," Jason said aloud. I could see the wheels turning in his head.
"The obvious next move is to fight back," Delaney said, looking inspired.
"I have the perfect idea too. Once we take care of Ricky, we're going to hit the humans were they hurt the most. Since we're the most powerful group available right now that means we should take on the more dangerous missions that offer the most reward if successful. With four Court members and Enforcer, plus myself we should be virtually impervious to anything the humans dish out. Augustus can heal any injuries. And although Delaney, youre the weakest one here, but your force fields allow you to protect yourself so we don't have to cover for you like we might have to if your abilities were different.
"I've gotten word that there's going to be a huge event regarding the success over subduing and militarizing Unknowns. Well. Actually it's top secret, classified information, but it's huge among many high level military personnel as well as some white house correspondents. If we hit them where it hurts, they'll be scared shitless," Jason said.
Delaney let out a deep breath and laid back against the couch. Her brown eyes peer up at the cieling.
"I never imagined I'd be in a position to fight alongside Court members like this. I'll admit it. Knowing that they've weaponized our powers to use against us makes me a bit nervous. Even highly skilled combat trained humans I think we can handle with the arsenel we have now. But that plus Unknowns and I think we'll have a real fight on our hands. Possible casualties. Not saying that it's not worth it. Just pointing out the level of difficulty and dangerous," she said.
Jason nodded in agreement.
"You're absolutely right. If we didn't have Augustus with us, I probably wouldn't have even mentioned it. The thought had crossed my mind briefly when I first heard of it, but I don't think that even I could take on that many people at once. I'd either be captured or have to retreat. My powers are just like anyone else's - eventually we all fatigue," he said.
"We should run the idea by the others when they wake up," I said.
"Yeah. I'm about ready for bed myself," Delaney said.
"Same here," I said.
I got up from the couch and lent my hand out to Delaney. She grabbed it and stood up.
"Thanks."
I gave her a small nod and followed Jason as he showed us where the rooms where we would sleep. Jason gave Delaney his room and I would be bunking in second guest room. Frederick and Sebastian bunked together and I would be in a room with Winston. Jason was going to sleep on his couch.
