"My name is Giovanna."
She stood up and gave a soft smile at the reunited couple.
"I'm here to do what the Court members have failed to do. I am going to save the Unknowns from their certain destructions and establish order to this world."
We all looked at her in shock.
"Every Unknown that was being detained here is now free from human control. Even your beloved Ricky. Join me. Abandon these useless individuals who claim to protect their underlings and yet failed. The Supreme has done nothing but sit on her haunches while we have faced death and injury. Why stay with her followers who have done the same?" she said, her eyes trained on Delaney.
Delaney's jaw was slack with surprise at Giovanna's words. Her big brown eyes looked down at Ricky. I watched as their eyes met and emotion ran through her. The aura around Ricky had disappeared, but there was something about the color of his eyes that seemed off. It was different from before. It was possible that it was the lasting effects of Giovanna's power, but something in my gut told me it wasn't right. I could have very well been wrong, but I hoped that Delaney felt the same.
Giovanna's words had been bold to say in front of four out of the six Court members. That meant she was either an idiot or more powerful that I had given her credit for. I wasn't quite sure what her powers were exactly. Whatever it was, I knew her abilities were signaled their activation with an aura.
I looked up at Jason, but his face was unreadable. His brows were casting a dark shadow over eyes and it made him look fearsome. I went on a limb and assumed that he was suspicious of this new character. He wasn't even using his telepathy to communicate his concerns with us. That meant that that she was likely in on whatever his abilities were. He didn't seem scared, but instead extremely cautious.
Winston seemed unfazed and Sebastian's eyes were ticking furiously as he looked at her. Normally he'd be disinterested as well but that wasn't what was happening here. Frederick kept his eyes trained on Giovanna.
Delaney stared at Ricky for what seemed like an eternity. Then she finally looked at Giovanna, taking her in. I had to admit that Giovanna was strangely beautiful. Although her hair an eyes were certainly a weird color it suited her well. Her hair was long, thick and wavy. Her lashes were long and her lips full. She had perfectly straight teeth and was in good shape. When she spoke her voice was as smooth as silk.
After taking in Giovanna, Delaney's eyes fell on me. This surprised me, but what surprised me more was the look on her face. It almost looked like hope.
"I have to admit: your offer is very tempting. But I've already put my hope in someone. Someone who I think will bring about real change. The only Court member here who hasn't succumbed to the will of the Supreme or anyone else. I'm going to put my trust in Augustus here," Delaney answered.
Giovanna looked surprised, but took it all in stride.
"Very well then. The next time you see me it may be in battle," she said with a shrug.
She lifted an arm and snapped her finger. The other Unknowns began to walk toward her - even Ricky's attention turned toward her.
"I am your savior. I am the Ultimate. No longer will the humans enslave you or will you have to live under the rule of the Supreme. You all have been freed. By me," she announced.
"You can choose to side with the ones who abandoned you and left you to rot. Or you can come with me and we will establish peace and order," she continued.
The Unknowns murmured amongst themselves. They each looked at us Court members. Most of them had looks of contempt - and reasonably so. Slowly they all nodded in agreement, quietly agreeing to follow Giovanna. Her smirk widened into a smile that gave a very vague resemblance to cheshire cat.
