We'd spend the past couple of days strategizing. Before leaving the military base we'd tested the antidote to the virus. In order to create the antidote I cut my finger open and let my blood drip into the vial. My body would automatically make antibodies against it and nullify the effects. Essentially, we'd created both a vaccine and a cure.

With Unknowns it was dangerous to use blood as a cure, but I hoped that the small amount wouldn't matter, especially since my powers were of the healing kind. Half were injected with the syringe but then everyone was exposed to the original virus.

I'd held my breath. Those with the injection showed no reaction, but those without reacted immediately. I injected them with the vaccine and the effects began to show immediately. It wasn't the best science experiment but it would work for now. Jason made sure to stockpile more syringes with the cure. They would all carry it with them, except for me - I really didn't need to.

With a cure in hand there were little concerns about the virus now. Once we got to the Pentagon we were ready for the ensuing fight. We decided it was best ot dress the part. Jason had gotten his hands on some tailored tuxedos and a nice gown for Delaney. Delaney and I would go in as a couple The rest would stay in pairs, but with enough distance that they didn't seem conspicuous.

We were here to get intel and turn this place upside down.

It was a highly secured building so getting in without being noticed would have been difficult without Winston. As we walked through security he cut off their senses so that they didn't notice us walking through without proper identification.

Jason had given us a mental layout of the building beforehand. There was going to be a dinner and reception afterward. At the dinner they would speak about their upcoming military plans.

Delaney and I took our seats at one of the large around tables. She had her hair up into a pristine bun and a full face of makeup. Her dress was golden and it shimmered. It was sleeveless and form fitting. We all simply wore black tuxedos as did most men, except for a few who were in uniform.

We ate our dinner in peace and listened as to the speakers. There wasn't really any new information, but my ears perked up when they mentioned that Unknowns had been ravaging certain facilities in cities. Even the military base we'd infiltrated came up. We weren't the only ones doing damage to the humans. Unknowns were definitely fighting back.

They played through a slide show of all of the devastation. I saw piles of bodies. It was difficult to distinguish between human and Unknown. I laughed inwardly at the irony. This whole war was started because humans had perceived us as different. But maybe it was our own fault for not trying to integrate sooner. Maybe we shouldn't have tried to keep our identities a secret for so long.

"Things are proceeding mostly as planned. Despite the loss of some of these facilities we're still moving forward according to schedule. The test subjects we've been practicing with are past the testing phase. They are now ready for battle. Our control device has been implemented flawlessly across several experimentation stations. Every platoon will receive at least one Unknown, if not more," the current speaker said.

Delaney tapped my shoulder. When I looked over at her, she leaned in.

"I think we've caught some attention," she whispered, her nose pointing in the direction of whoever it was.

I looked over and noticed one of the security guards eyeing us carefully. We had not done anything to garner such attention. There were enough people here that it shouldn't matter that he did not recognize us. I made eye contact with the security guard and he looked away. Something didn't feel right about this.
