When I got to my room, Nate was sitting at the edge of the bed and Jeremiah was looking out the window with his arms crossed. The twins entered first with me following close behind. Neither looked at me as I walked in. Each seemed lost in their own thoughts. The room was silent for what felt like an eternity. Finally, Adrian walked into the room, he paused a moment before speaking.
“Are we just going to stay silent?” he said quietly.
“Mel you have to face mom and dad soon.” Nate said, he looked up at me with a serious expression.
I looked down at the floor, “I know but...” I hesitated.
It is alright child. You can tell them.
All eyes were on me, waiting for me to finish my sentence. “My Dragon is Metzli.”
“Metzli?” The twins asked in unison.
“The Moon Dragon?” JJ asked, eyes wide in surprise.
I nodded, “And Blaze has Sorin; the Sun Dragon.”
“Well what are the odds of that.” Nate gave out a small laugh, “So you’re telling me that you and your opponent were chosen to be honorary warriors of the the dragons of all dragons?” He ran his hand through his hair in disbelief, “You gotta be shitting me.”
“Well it does make sense,” JJ shrugged, “looking at all the abilities Mel has it seems to fit.”
“We never did make a list of your powers, did we, Melody?” Adrian asked. I just shook my head and watched as he rummaged around for a pencil and some paper. Once he found the items he began to write on it, “Okay let’s go over what powers you do have.”
“Why is that even necessary?” I questioned.
“She can control water.” Erick started.
“Not as good as Warriors of Amadahy,” Nate chirped in.
“I’m getting there, ain’t I?” I scowled, “I’m still learning.”
“There’s the illusions and the whole dream and falling asleep stuff.” Derrick added. Adrian nodded and scribbled some more on the paper.
“When we found out you could do that, I thought her Dragon was Mayavin.” Nate turned to JJ. “Her illusions were pretty good.”
“Really? Guess I need to be around more.” JJ grinned at me, “Any more surprises for us?”
“She can heal,” Adrian mumbled, “Seems like I’m out of a job.”
I frowned, “Aw Adrian, I’m sorry. I’ll still come to you when I need healing, promise.”
“Don’t forget that whole controlling the body ordeal.” Erick said.
“Do you know any Dragons that can do that?” I asked my brothers. Both thought for a moment before shaking their heads. “Do you think that’s something only my Dragon can do?”
“Mel,” JJ started, “Your Dragon is one of the original two dragons. Metzli can do practically anything, she taught the other Dragons. Well her and Sorin that is, so what you can’t do, Blaze can.”
“Sounds like he’s your other half,” Derrick snickered. I shot him a glare which caused the room to lighten up.
“I guess the list is done for now. Honestly, looking at this list, I don’t think any of us would’ve been able to figure out who your dragon was.” Adrian said.
“I did promise not to tell. Which reminds me,” I looked to Nate, “Blaze says that they can’t kill me because of who my Dragon is.”
Nate gave me a look as if I was speaking another language. “You were talking to Blaze?”
I shrugged and looked away, “He said because my Dragon is the Moon Dragon they can’t kill me. I’m the only Moon Warrior we have at the moment.”
“Do you think they’ll let you go?” Erick asked.
“It’s worth a shot.” JJ said. He began to head towards the door, “Mel, do you want to see the family?”
I hesitated to answer that question. Do I really want to face my family right now? Do I want to see their disappointed faces? Their lamenting eyes, their shaking heads? What about my father? Do I really want to talk to him again after what happened earlier?
“No.” I said “I guess I’ll just surprise them tomorrow.” I gave a small almost reassuring smile, “Because after all, I’m not going to die.”
“I wish I had your confidence,” Adrian sighed. Everyone nodded in agreement.
“Trust me,” I said coolly,” Metzli and I got a plan tomorrow. Besides I’m technically a limited edition Warrior. They can’t get rid of me.”
“You better be right.” Nate said.
“But before that, I have a certain vampire that I need to talk to,” I began to walk out of the room, “I need to break this bond.”
