I got into a fighting stance and waited till that huge monster saw me. It didn’t take long before the beast saw me. It snorted and steam came out of its nose. His eyes were large and red. Anger and determination were in his eyes. His whole body inflated and deflated with each breath. Huh…kinda looks like a balloon.

His left paw/hoof thingy scarped the ground a few times and then he charged. Speed increasing he lowered his head, sharp whitish-yellow tusks aimed at me. I jumped to the side as soon as he got within striking range. He continued running for about three more seconds before he realized that he never hit his target. He stopped and looked around disgruntled. He finally turned around and saw me. I couldn’t help but giggle and wave.

He made a grunt and charged at me again. I jumped to the side again. I have no weapons with me and I don’t know how I’m able to attack this creature if everything is poisonous. The tail is the head of a snake. Maybe I can grab the snake and make it bite the Porcibear killing itself. Or I can just make the Porcibear become delusional. Once again the Porcibear was heading right at me. This time I lifted my hands up and started to move them in circles. I focused on his eyes. The eyes are the way to the soul and to the mind. Our eyes locked and I knew he was mine.

I started to think of sleep but then I thought of something better. Why not give the people a show? I decided to think of fire all around us. Instantly the pig skidded to a stop and squealed. It backed up and tried to run. I just smirked and walked closer.

Imagine everything being hazy, then fire in every direction. The heat is unbearable and  you move slower than you’d like.  Everything is red and everything you hear comes in slowly and in a low pitch.

Aw poor Porcibear. I’m sorry. I’m not gonna kill you. I promise.

The Porcibear stopped and looked at me with defeated eyes. I gently put my palm against its snout and whispered, “Go to sleep.”

Slowly the eyelids began to droop. Then his head. Then his whole body fell to the ground with a thud. There was a silence and then cheering…and booing. A mixture of the good and the bad. But why are they booing? Did I do something they didn’t like?

I looked up at the crowd and noticed the cheering stopped and the booing continued. Pieces of food and other items were being thrown at me. I wanted to shrink and crawl under a rock. This is humiliating. Maybe this is what my parents were scared of. Me being a made a humiliation…a disgrace.

I looked around and just decided to walk back to towards the family waiting room. Trash followed me.

When I was finally able to close the door I leaned against it and slid down. I pulled my knees to my chest and rested my head on them. Dragons, that was embarrassing. I really don’t want that to happen again. There was a knock not at the door I was leaning on but the one on the other side of the room. I didn’t get up. The knocking continued.

“Melody?” It was my parents.

Oh how lovely, Jeremiah andKatherine (a.n. i totally forgot her name and i was lazy to find it so yea ;P)  are here. I bet they’re going to tell me to drop out of the Trials, that I’ve embarrassed the family enough. I can already imagine the look on dad’s face. He’s going to give me his hard look and in those soulless red beady eyes there will be disappointment and shame. My father always had a mean rugged look to him. His Dragon is the Dragon of War. That explains everything for his look. Then there’s my mother. Her Dragon is the Dragon of Music. She always wanted a girl and when she got one she decided to name me in honor of her Dragon. (You think she would name me in honor of the Dragon of Fertility)

“Melody open this down this instant.” My father’s demanding voice penetrated through the cold stone walls. I sighed and just stared at the door. Maybe if I was quick enough, I can get into the air vents and hide.
