I watched as Uncle Scott defeated the water maze with ease. Every player performed their trial. It was late afternoon when we had our last intermission. I was sitting in the side lines of the arena when the M.C. finally called us out. We stood in our own sections and listened to the M.C. explain the scoring system to the audience.
"The way we find out who will be the winner of these Trials is by score. Now the score goes from one to nine. We do the score by time. Nine is the fastest while one is the slowest. So now for the overall score for the day." He said walking towards the clan farthest from us.
"How'd I do?" I whispered to my Uncle.
"About a six. If I'm right they don't score on your performance." He whispered back. I nodded.
"For the Steel clan your score is an overall twelve." He then went to the next clan, "Kempt clan you guys have the overall score of twelve also!" He then started to walk towards our clan.
"How long did you take again?" I asked.
"Around three minutes." My uncle grinned.
"Is that good?" I asked.
He shrugged, "I'm guessing a score of seven or so."
"Okay." I let out a sigh. I really don't want to let my family down. I hate disappointment.
"And the Ryuu clan. Strong as ever." The M.C. said smiling, "You guys got an outstanding score of fourteen."
"Don't jump." My uncle muttered, "Don't jump around all happy. It'll make us look weak."
I nodded and held my ground. The M.C. pulled out a bag and opened it. There was a glow from the bag and I knew that I had to pull out a scale for my next Trial.
"You know what to do." He said so only me and my uncle could hear.
We pulled out a scale each. I looked at the smooth glittering scaled and moved my thumb over the engraved picture. There were arrows pointing up and down and in the middle looked like a beetle.
We left the arena and walked into an encouraging family. I got a lot of hugs and slaps on the back from family members that I haven't seen in ages. I got questions about my feet but I told them that I got them healed for the next Trial. I avoided my parents with ease and went to find the Twins. I found them in the same spot as last time. Right next to the food stand. They were talking to each other but smiled and waved when they saw me. I ran up to them and had Erick catch me.
"Look." I said pointing my foot and Derrick, "No burns."
"Did Adrian heal 'em?" Erick asked.
I shook my head and let myself down, "I did. It was so weird and cool at the same time."
"Awesome." They said, "So what's your next Trial?"
I shrugged, "It had a beetle on it with a bunch of arrows. I have no idea what that means."
"Why not ask J.J.?" Derrick asked.
"Later." I said walking out of the auditorium, "Right now I want to rest."
"Whoo! Hawaiian pizza it is!" The twins yelled.
I giggled and started to whistle. "Ichabob!"
We kept on walking and heard a rumbling. I started to whistle again and a shadow jumped over us. Ichabob turned around and wiggled his stub of a tail. His eyes were bright and he was jumping all over the place. He finally came up to me and placed his huge paws on my small shoulders. He started to lick my face.
The boys were laughing but then Ichabob turned around and started to lick them also. Now it was my turn to laugh. When Ichabob was done giving his kisses we were drenched in hound saliva. It was think like goo and it smelled like dog food.
"Time for a shower." Erick said wiping some spit from his eyes.
"I missed you boy." I said scratching Ichabob's ear.
"Shower...or lake...shower or lake." Derrick said out loud.
"Lake!" I said jumping onto Ichabob's back. The twins jumped on also. Ichabob started to run and stopped next to a lake. We got off and he immediately jumped in.
Right as he jumped in a bunch of Nixies ran out. They were all clustered together but once they saw the twins, they straightened up and gave a small wave. I rolled my eyes when they responded to them.
"Retards. They'll kill you once they're done." I muttered.
"Well then how are we gonna get cleaned off?" Erick asked.
That's when an idea came to mind. I lifted my hands and concentrated on the water. The water started to rise. I brought the water to the twins who were already over with the Nixies and dropped it. The Nixies giggled and the twins were fuming. They turned around and glared at me. I pointed to behind them. They turned around and noticed all but two Nixies were in the water. The two were trying to get them in the water.
"Don't be such idiots! Come back over here!" I yelled.
They looked at the girls then at me. I rolled my eyes and went over to them. I grabbed them by the collar and smiled at the two Nixies, "Sorry ladies but I don't want them to die just yet."
I dragged them away and heard the water splash. Ichabob was done playing. He shook his body and water went all over the place. I made an inaudible noise and just decided to take a shower at the hotel. The boys were grumbling about how they can never hit on any girls when I'm around because I'm too overprotective. Boys, never appreciate the small things I do to keep them alive.
We were able to take make it back to the hotel alive. I took a shower and came back outside to sit with the twins and throw rocks at trees seeing if one of us could get a decent dent in it. After awhile I got bored and decided to go to bed.
The next morning I woke up to a figure in my room. I jumped out of bed and was in a defense stance till I realized it was J.J. I relaxed.
"You need to train. Sadly, you need the twins help on this..." he said.
"What time is it?" I asked. I looked at the clock and it said '6:00 AM' in bright neon colors. "I'll just wait awhile. Let's go eat!"
"In your pj's?" J.J. asked with a raise eyebrow.
I nodded and went out the door. We ate a simple breakfast and I went to get dressed. Time to wake up the boys.
