My name is Layla Margret Alexandria. I like to think of myself an ordinary girl just like all the other girls in this world. But there is something I didn't mention. I'm not an ordinary girl, I never have been ever since I was born. Let me explain the best way I can... My real name is Layla Margret Alexandria Princess of Genovia.
When I was younger I thought life as a Princess was awesome. I got everything a little girl would dream of. I get to wear fancy gowns, have fancy dinners, and omg the tiaras I get wear. But the best part about living in a castle there are a lot of places to hide when I played hide and seek with my best friend Shane Oliver Smith.
He is a month other than me and he lives here in the castle. We instantly became friends, Shane isn't a prince but I always think of him my prince. His mother is a maid that takes care of my mother's needs. Shane's father died before he was born. He was killed in a rebel attack against the castle. Shane's father was the head of the grads. When Shane reaches eighteen he will be put in training. Then once all is said and done he will be assigned to protect me.
Today is Thanksgiving and my parents are running around yelling at the staff. We have people coming for a big get together. There is going to be a ball but I'm not aloud since I'm under age. But Shane and I have plans to hang out after dinner. Today also happens to be Shane's eighteenth birthday. One of the things that I wish were different in my life is that Shane and I could eat in the same room. I have to eat with my parents and the other royal families in the formal dining room. Shane has to eat in the kitchen with the maids and other grads.
There is a soft knock on my door, I sit up in my huge bed. "Layla Sweet Girl, we need to get you ready for dinner. Oh and I have a letter for you from Mr. Shane." I smile up at my maid when she walks in the door. She hands me the letter and turns to my huge walk in closet. I open the letter from Shane with a huge smile on face.
Hey My Princess,
I can't believe in few short hours I will be turning 18 and I can't wait to celebrate it with you. What I'm not excited for is leaving you for a week so I can do training. But the good news is I will be able to stand by your door at night. I can't wait to see you tonight. Mumma told me that she made me my favorite dessert. For us to have tonight...
Okay My Princess I will see you later. I just wanted to make you smile and say that I'm sorry for be so caught up in everything lately and haven't been able to spend much time with you. See you soon My Princess.
-Forever,
YourPrinceI couldn't help the smile on face when my maid Melissa comes back to my bed with one of my favorite gowns. It is a dark green, with a beaded bodice. It comes down to my ankles. It's my favorite because it is the same color of Shane's eyes. Melissa lays the gown on my bed and walks over to my vanity and pulls out the chair.
"Come sit we need to do your hair and makeup." I get up from my bed and sit in the chair. Melissa gets busy with my hair. My hair is to the middle of my back, and it is a caramel color. It has a natural curl that makes my hair wavy. My eyes are hazel with gold specks in them.
Melissa is straightening the last strand of hair when she pulls a little bit on it to get my attention. She must of asked me a question. "Sorry what Melissa? I'm just stuck in my thoughts like always." She giggles. "I just asked if everything is alright with Shane?" "Yeah of course he was just touching base. We have plans after dinner. Since its his birthday." "Oh that's right! Carmon told me that this morning."
Melissa finishes my hair with a headband braid."So do you like?" She hands me a hand mirror so I can look at the back of my hair. "Yes! It's cute and simple just how I like it." "I figured you would want it simple, okay make up do you want to go glittery?" "Of course!" When Melissa was done with my makeup she helped me in to my gown.
"Hey, will you help me out with a surprise for Shane?" "Sure what can I do?" "While I'm at dinner can you light the candles in the garden, then I will need you to get him to go to the garden when dessert is being served. I will excuse myself from dinner then and be waiting out there for him. Can you do that for me? "Of course. But what do you think I should say to get him to go the garden?"
I was about to tell Melissa my plan on how to get him out but there was a knock on my door. A knock that I would know anytime. I smile at Melissa and make my way to the door. I open it and fly in to his arms. "Hello to you too." "Happy Birthday Hansom!" "Oh now you think I'm hansom? I just had to see you, so I told your parents that I will come get you and escort you to dinner." I can't help but smile at this man standing in front of me. "Okay now your just being weird your up to something aren't you?"
I laugh. "Maybe." "Does this something have to deal with my birthday?" I smile up at him again. "Do you know what she's up to Melissa?" Shane asks as Melissa comes walking up behind us. "I will never tell. Happy birthday Mr. Shane!" "Thanks Melissa. So is anyone going to tell me what your planning Beautiful?" Shane looks at me with that gorgeous smile of his.
I can't help but to smile at him. "You will have to wait and see maybe the garden will have something to do with my planning around dessert." He just laughs. I hook my arm in his and he escorted me to dinner. When we got down the hall and down the grand staircase.
I kissed his cheek and whisper in his ear. "Meet me in the garden when dessert is being served. And I will give you your present." "Will do my Princess." He kisses my cheek and leads me to the dining room and opens the door for me.
