I woke up and turn in bed so I could look at the clock on the wall. Its 6:15... "Oh snap I sleep through lunch and dinner." My stomach growls as I'm getting out of bed. I walk over to my door and push the call on the wall button.

"What do you need Sweet Girl?" "Um, I'm hungry can I come down to kitchen and get something to eat?" "Of course we saved some dinner for you. Finn is outside your door just let him bring you to kitchen." I have the door open before Melissa Is finished. Standing grad by my door is Finn Cooper. He is tall with dark green eyes and as blonde hair. He is older then me by ten years. I have know Finn for what seems like forever. He came to work at the castle when I was thirteen.

"What do you need Layla?" Finn asks when I poke his side. He doesn't call me princess when its just me and him because he says its weird. Which I have to agree. "Hi Finn, I would like to get something to eat. So would you mind to escort me to the kitchen?"Finn smiles at me and holds out his arm. "Love too." Finn really isn't much of a talker so me walk to the kitchen in silence.

When we get to the door to the kitchen I smile up at him. "Thank you Finn." He nods and turns to walk away to go back to normal grad duties of grading the castle. When I push the door to the kitchen open and walk in I find Melissa and Carmon doing dishes. Carmon looks over her shoulder.

"Hey Sunshine Girl. Have a seat Melissa and I would like to talk with you when you eat." I don't answer her I just scowl and make my way to the table to sit down. They finish the dishes, and Melissa walks over to the microwave to check my food. Carmon walks to the cubbies on the far wall next to the table and hangs up her apron.

I watch Carmon, she grabs a small rectangular box out of her small cube cubbie. She walks up to the table and sits right next to me. Melissa is walking over to us with a bowl of chicken Alfredo and a glass of sparkling water. Melissa sits on the other side of me.

"So what do you guys want to talk about?" I ask picking up my fork. Chicken Alfredo is one of my favorites. Carmon puts the small rectangular box on the table and slides it to me. "What's this?" I ask grabbing it. "Shane asked me to give you this but before you open it. Melissa and I want to know your thoughts on what was said at breakfast." I take another bite of Alfredo and push the bowl away from myself.

"My thoughts about marring someone I don't even know?"Melissa grabs my bowl and carries it to the sink. When she comes back to the table. The both look at me like there waiting for me to speak. I take a drink of my sparkling water and swallow. "I think its the dumbest thing in the entire world. I want to marry for love not for the crown."

They both stare at me. Did I say something I shouldn't of? I take another drink of my water and Carmon reaches out to touch my arm. "Sunshine Girl, we totally understand what you mean. But we think you need to give Prince Zander a chance." "Yeah your right, but I'm not happy about it." They both laugh.

I look down at the small rectangular box form Shane and smile. "Yes Sunshine Girl you can open it now. I smile bigger be cause I remember when I ask Carmon why she calls my sunshine girl. She told me its because when I walk into a room everyone in the room lights up when the see me. So she calls me sunshine girl.

I rip the glittery gold warping paper. As I pull off the last of the paper. My jaw drops to the floor. Its a cell phone. "Um how did Shane get this?" Carmon takes the box from my hands and opens it and points the inside lid. She hands it back and I look at the lid. There is a note from Shane.

Hey Beautiful,
I hope you don't get upset at me for giving you a part of your birthday present early but I couldn't go two weeks without hearing your voice. So I'm giving you this phone so we can talk when the sunsets. It will be like I'm there with you watching it. If you turn the phone on you will find that I downloaded pictures and I added my contact.
-Shane
(PS. I miss you)

I turn the phone on and the background is a picture of Shane and I. It was taken a year ago in the garden. I smile from ear to ear. I look up to find myself alone at the table. I didn't even hear Melissa and Carmon leave. I glance at the clock on the wall.

There is only twenty five minutes until sunsets. I fly off my chair. I run out of the kitchen and ran to my room. I have time to brush my teeth and get ready for bed I do so. I grab a blanket and my new phone and go out to my balcony. I sit and wait for Shane to call.
